#21 - Archie Roberts - thru 2028

You can’t fault his endeavour, and he certainly knows how to get the ball. But his kicking is an issue, and his one-sidedness and demanding the ball when he’s in a bad position is even more frustrating for mine.

Having said that, we’d all be absolutely rapt if more of our blokes played with the heart he does.

I think he just needs to stick to his limits when kicking and he’ll look infinitely better. Part of that is teammates working to give him easier options, too.

Leave the biting too much off kicks for Farrow and Johnson.

I didn’t see a lot of the game but I distinctly remember his first two kicks which both missed their targets and put us under pressure. And his first kick out he squirted it 15m to the boundary and missed his target.

It’s a very big problem in his game, he is imo close to the worst field kick in the team and he was taking kick outs? You’ve got Johnson and farrow right there taking none. Bizare.

I thought commentators were frothing over Roberts disposal efficiency, thought they said 90-100% by foot at some point.

Yep, he offer kick long to a contest which gets marked as effective. Even if it’s a loop kick that doesn’t favour our team and they run away with it.

Archie Roberts looks a lot like Archie May in that picture.

I imagine that if and when we ever get our movement up field sorted Robert’s disposal is going to look a fair bit better.

Correct it’s not a good measure. He has 89% disposal efficiency, but 22% of his disposals were also turnovers, explain that to me. I like the way he plays, but he turns the ball over way too much. If he can tighten up this part of his game he’ll be a really good player.

We’re getting smashed on the rebound and a lot of his turnovers are long kicks inside 50.

A kick of 40m+ to a 50/50 or better contest is an effective kick, even if it results in a turnover.

Not all turnovers are ineffective disposals. If you kick >40m to an even contest which your team mates lose it is an effective disposal and a turnover.

He is proof you don’t need to turn every decent player into a mid.

Thought he was ok. He got a heap of it, but his kicking was pretty bad

About right imo as there was a lot of kick to kick which inflated the stats a little, though the 700 metres gained was impressive. I had him as our 2nd best behind Merrett personally (and voted that way in The Nobby)

This bloke should captain the club. His intensity, effort and aggressive attitude should be the standard for all players on the ground… even if his disposal is lacking from time to time.

I find it hilarious that theres so many that question this guy on here.

He has played 30 games.
Is an absolute gun.

A big big tick for his kicking and disposal today (writing this literally as he turns it over to Pickett lol).

Real breakout game for Archie. He’s shown a lot of signs, but his influence on this game was enormous.

Worth mentioning it’s only his 32nd game too.
