#21 - Archie Roberts - thru 2028

You can normally count on McGrath to at least go through the charade of pretending like he cares. The unhinged mad man that he is.

Stringer would have

Depends how far away he was from it

Literally anything, it doesn’t even matter what.

This is a far larger issue than anything West did imo.

VOSS would have.

Yep.
He was mouthing off at the Dogs forward line early in the game.
He was bound to get some coming back his way.

I’m not worried about it.
Nor am I worried about the lack of response to what West did.
We deserve to be belittled by the opposition after that display. Any response would be fake. Especially when they were winning the contest so easily.

He’s quite often the only guy who will ever fly the flag. It’s a pity he’s less intimindating than my 2 y/o daughter, but at least he does it. There are much bigger, stronger guys who never even bother.

Note: This was not meant as a slight on McGrath. My 2 y/o is farkin terrifing.

If you want to see someone truly soft when their teammate is being roughed up. Have a look at the footage of Ben Mackay when the bulldogs player knocked over Prior after his horrible calamity in the 2nd qtr.

just slowly walks over and puts a little hand out

teams physically bully us because they know we will just take it

Long run being rag dolled like that will be good for him. Extra motivation in the gym to never let that happen again

Didnt look ragdolled to me, went in on wrong angle, got caught off balance, a feather would have knocked him over, the fact a powder puff like riley west thought it was tough is laughable and a testament to his little man syndrome.

Roberts will be 10 times the player west is and that is all that matters

I don’t mind some of these comments but just one thing, I get it’s an Essendon forum but people are talking Rhylee West down as a player beyond what’s actually true IMO. As of the last year or so he’s a genuinely good footballer in the role he plays.

Is Rhylee West actually 182cm like google claims?

He looks like an elongated midget. It’s gotta be that enormous melon throwing everything out of proportion. His poor mother.

LOL

I think those three, certainly the first two you mentioned, would be above that particular kind of celebration.

Gerreyne would not have tolerated that behaviour, but 100% would replicate it

The Essendon football club hasn’t been worried about things like that for a long time either.

and it shows.

As for any response being fake, I believe you either have some fight in you as a player and as a team and club or you don’t.

We’ve been facing our line in the sand moments every season for about 20 years and we yield every single time.

You might be perfectly happy for them to behave like beta male fc, doesn’t mean the rest of us have to be.

You think if we stand up to West and we all of a sudden become the ‘unsociable’ Hawks?
We were aggressive with them at the ball, not by using the ‘too small’ signal after kicking a goal. That Hawks team were aggressive at the man, not so much at the ball before the melee.
Of those 9 Hawthorn players that drew the ‘line in the sand’ in the melee, only two of them made it to their grand final.

The games gone past the ‘line in the sand’ rubbish. Go at the ball hard and show them you’re not taking their ■■■■. Not the jumper grabbing rubbish that can only occur now.

You may have misinterpreted as im not suggesting anything untoward.

I’m merely saying show aggression at the man and ball from the opening bounce. And no matter what the scoreboard says don’t take a backward step.

If that means some push and shove or you clean someone up in the marking contest, so be it.

But don’t just meekly accept whatever is dished out.

The non-response through that game was shameful.

The fact nobody was even paying attention, nor cared enough to back up the young bloke was deplorable.

That lack of combativeness and aggression in our club culture and lack of camaraderie won’t lead us anywhere good.

Respectfully disagree. For me, it’s a mindset thing.

We’ve been bullied for many years - and let it happen. It’s reflective of how we play.

I get the point that fake toughness won’t have an impact, but if our team can’t stand up for one another - that’s not a strong sign (at least for me) of a team first mindset.
