#21 - Archie Roberts - thru 2028

Got a bit of Luke Hodge about him, hard as and uncompromising at the contest.

Warrior. Doesn’t like losing. Hardwick. Solomon. Roberts…

For such a young player, he plays a lot older.

Love him.

No other candidate for Rising Star is playing as consistently well as Roberts. He must be the mid-season favourite. All the best Archie!

Found a ripper

I like his attitude aswell, he doesn’t take a step backwards, can’t wait for him to fill out more and gain muscle.

So amazed his slip through the draft to us, was touted initially as a top 20 pick

Kudos to Matthew Lloyd on his mentoring powers.

Sure, as long as we can also talk about his age, his number of games and the fact that his playing in a team that invites intense opposition pressure. Please go ahead.

He created a lot of drive.

I loved it when he was matched up on Levi - 2 players vying for the rising star.

Just remember half of blitz wanted Dylan Shiel to start at half back over him because he didn’t look good during the pre season

we just get our intel from the training watchers, and Shiel was doing well.

Roberts attitude is good, competitor, runs all day, love that he tries to get under opponents skin.

Johnson, tough competitor and great vision setting up attack from defence. must be persisted with.

He is a beauty

I certainly have. That is a serious comparison

I was thinking Mark Johnson, loved to yap. nuggety back pocket, but could also midfield, won a BNF.

Yep the way he goes about it is awesome. He took about four games to look like a seasoned AFL player and cement his spot. He can clearly read the footy and play the morden game.

He’s found himself forward a couple of times the last two weeks which is great. But his shots on goal have missed. He also turns it over a bit and misses targets. If he can tidy that up he will be elite.

Yeah this kid has surprised me i feel like he plays better at afl level than vfl, definitely his kicking is much better. Reminds me of Gary O’Donnell. Consistent, reliable, old head on young shoulders, left footer.

Already performing well beyond expectations for one of his tender amount of games. In my votes l said he is the new defensive general, and l stick by that claim. Gaining in composure each week and a natural born competitor with a hard edge.

For those who know, did Archie actually slip down the order in the draft vs what was expected and if so any insight on why?

Was initially expected to go top 30. No idea why he fell to the 50’s.

I reckon he just wasn’t seen as a sexy pick with huge athletic upside.

Sometimes worth just picking the kids who football good.

Thought it was higher.

Only knock I can see is his goal kicking from set shot
