#22 - Sam Durham - thru to 2032!

Two major reasons not to read any further…

Brad Johnson saying anything and Brad Johnson thinking.

Bit disappointed at this thread reminding me that Brad Johnson exists, to be honest.

fair effort, didn’t know step ladders could hold opinions

It’s hard to choose between him and Ben Dixon on the biggest frauds in the football media.

So Stewart got off and Duz gets 2weeks?
Whats the difference

Stewarts shoulder was below the head and in the chest area

He wasn’t trying to draw a free kick but all AFL players are taught to minimise risk of head or neck injuries by using a side on technique.

Cerra used a poor technique that left him vulnerable because even if Durham didn’t elect to bump and went in hard for the ball Cerra still could have gotten seriously injured.

Stewart got lucky and didn’t give Anderson a black eye.

Breaking ribs is legal. Breaking faces is not.

One was a hip and shoulder into another hip and shoulder and the other was a front on hit that got the head and shoulder. Two very different situations.

Not sure if serious?

Throw the cheque book at him and Bartel for coach and assistant.

I’m not bothered by the suspension, he needs a rest anyway.

My only concern with this whole episode is that the completely over-the-top reaction could result in Durham changing the way he attacks the ball/opponent. The way he smashes in is a thing of beauty, long may it continue.

The media frothing about this is simply because we finally have a guy who is consistently ferocious at the contest, and they just want us to forever stay in this cycle of meekness and mediocrity. Who gives a ■■■■ what they say? The AFL media is about as ■■■■ as the umpiring.

The only difference was one was Essendon and one was Geelong
Stewart clearly ran past the ball to take out a player. Is that ok now?
The Geelong media fan boys convincing everyone that it’s ok to lay out an opposition player
At least Duz was contesting the ball

The only difference is

  • it’s within the rules to bump body to body (if it’s late a free kick can come obv though)

  • it’s not in the rules to bump and hit the head, preached continually - if you elect to bump and you hit the head then will be penalised.

Durham in part is unlucky that Cerra didn’t use good technique to protect his own head for a ground ball collect but Durham chose to bump and got the head and been done

Running with an interesting theory/conspiracy that the position on the ground has contributed to Durham’s grading and most definitely the public hanging by the media. It was right in front of all the media boxes and also straight down the barrel for the main tv camera.

I may by clutching, but if it wasn’t so front and centre then the approach may not have resulted in Duz’s public hanging over the last 24hrs.

If Durham did what Stewart did, and got rubbed out from a fair hip and shoulder you would be rightfully filthy at the injustice.

This board could try to move on from this victim complex thing we have going on in here.

Nah they were very different. I’m no Geelong or Stewart fan but no parallels can be drawn here
