#23 Harrison Jones

2MP as our deepest forward, Harry Jones to play as CHF who should be using his athleticism and speed against his defenders. I like Harry as I think he offers a very different set of attributes normally associated with the position he plays; he just needs to keep building up his body and experience and his consistency will improve. It took 2MP 6-7 years and look at him now (plus I think he cam still improve).

I agree with what you say. So why can’t we develop someone like Bryan to play key forward as that next key forward/ruck, which allows Wright to stay home and not go to centre bounces.
Let’s face it he’s not going to be any worse than Jones as a forward. At least the kid can ruck.

Just out of interest I made this earlier of players after their 26th game who:

  • debuted after 2002
  • are 190cm+ (Harry is listed as 194cm)
  • have kicked 33+ career goals (how many Harry has)

You must have a lot of spare time.

He’s listed as 196cm on the AFL site.

No, just a great commitment to procrastination.

Yeah, I thought 194 seemed a bit on the short side but had just looked on afltables for his height.

Matt Taberner would have been leading if he got to play Essendon 2 times a year.

Great work! Gives a good feel about how players develop.

Wow, Jesse Hogan in a league of his own there.

Yeah, that had me going back and checking his figures manually as I thought surely I’d made a mistake!

and now jones is omitted so big stuzza can shine bright light a diamond in the sky.
argh essendon, you can’t say they aren’t willing to make the same mistake over and over

also like I said, you get a player to fill the no.2 spot, and you’re effectively nullifying jones spot on the list. he can’t and won’t be a 3rd tall forward

He so far on his own I didn’t even notice him! Also watching us last weekend I couldn’t help thinking he is exactly what Melbourne need right now

Thats what he is…dumbarse.
Last year he looked good, did he not ?

Who was he playing behind ???
Hooker & 2mp !!!

If you dont know wtf youre talking about, dont bother wasting my time with a reply.

Jones is in poor form because of an interrupted pre season and subsequent injuries 1st half of season.
His form has NOTHING to do with Stewart.

Im astounded by how little you actually understand given the number of words you post.

Jones will be number 3 banana until he adds size, but fill in as number 2 when required

am intrigued whether they play the extra ruckman with 2 talls or go with a small (Caldwell).

I would have given one of Hurley or Voss a run over Bryza with Jones going out

I feel like they will play the 2 rucks in 2023 most of the time, UNLESS Stewart’s form is so compelling that he demands that spot as No.2.

Even so, Bryan will need some games (6-10?).
Post 2023, reckon we will put a huge offer in front of someone (McKay or King), assuming Reid is continued as a backman.
IF Reid is played forward at VFL and shows something, we will cultivate it.

Good decision to drop him, will put a sting in his tail for next year, has been pretty disappointing.

Yes, disappointing if you disregard he has been playing lame I suppose.
