#23 Harrison Jones

Harry is going to be huge!!!

This kid can play, get excited

And chuck Stewie in, two prong attack

Jones will play every game next year, barring injuries of course.

Eyre & Cox might get some games towards the end of the year, or when we are out of finals contention. Whatever comes first.

You think Jones could keep out Stewart and a fit Hooker? I would absolutely love that but I think the odds are against him if everyone is fit.

Hooker only has 1 more year in him.

It’s counterproductive to not play Jones as much as possible next year imo.

I understood what you mean. In my opinion it could be more counterproductive on culture if someone is gifted games ahead of performing senior players. It’s all hypothetical obviously…given Hooker’s injury problems I’m sure Jones will be getting games anyway.

Stewart, 2MP and Lav are very likely to be our forward marking options R1 next season.

dont reckon you can play all of them plus stringer

What we need is 22 key position players, then just hold the ball out of reach of the opposition smalls.

I do because Stewart and Laverde are good at ground level. Mobile enough to lay a couple of tackles. Laverde and Stringer getting the 3rd/4th tall would be a nightmare for teams to match up on because they are just too physically strong in contests for any of the 3rd talls. Both can take contested marks. Throw in Perkins and Jones as depth options and we have a good forwardline in the makings IF we do it right.

I’d have Stewart, 2MP, Stringer and Lav/Jones as a basic forward structure with Perkins/Cahill, Walla, Zaharakis and Smith rotating forward as well.

Ideally, Stringer and Laverde would take turns rotating through the middle, but I doubt either of them will have the fitness to make a significant impact as mids.

Jones is up there with the most overrated players on blitz. The kid hasn’t even played a game of vfl yet let alone afl and people are talking about him as a locked in 10 year chf already.

I think their is a slight difference between overrated and super hyped. Jones is basically a new draftee with 12 mths of body development placed in to him.

How is it not exciting to have Jones, Eyre, Cox, Reid, Brand and big boi Bryan all basically as new shiny key position / tall prospects. And of course McBride…

I am 100% more excited to watch our VFL team play next year than our senior team with a spine of

FB- Brand McBride

HB- Reid

C- Bryan

HF- Jones Cox

FF- Eyre

It’s pretty darn important we get a proper VFL or AFL B competition next year (and that it runs unaffected by covid).

Team with a bunch of developing talls like us - we desperately need them playing at the level below, esp. given most of them missed a full year this year.

I saw our new gameplan on Zach’s Instantgram recently. It shows a whiteboard in the background with us playing every tall on the list and adapting the tigers knocking the ball forward style, except we do it 2-3 metres above ground and the ball never hits the deck.

Tippa and Snello-the-human-meatball are still in the 22 but they stand on each other’s shoulders. When we play pies we use a hooker to distract their cox so he doesn’t disrupt our aerial mojo. This is quite revolutionary stuff.

Hence Jonesy plays every week.

So you’re saying there is still a chance that we are underrating him?

Lid off.

I’ll be surprised if Peter Wright is anything more than a Shaun McKernan level when we picked him up years ago.

Predicting Blitz will Zlarke him at about mid-season.

As did most of us.

Has his spirit been crushed yet?
