#23 Harrison Jones

I’ll be surprised if Wright out performs/better than McKernan

Still think we should have got Brown instead

No you won’t, you’ll be on his ■■■■ the second he kicks a goal.

The fact you want brown is telling

Brown is a better player kicked 60 goals 3 years running Wright will be lucky to kick 2

The moment GC got King they turfed Wright like yesterday’s garbage

If 2MP kicks more than 22 goals over the next two seasons, then he’s got him covered.

In 2019, McKernan kick 17 goals from 16 games to much fanfare. Meanwhile, at the suns, that universally condemned dud Peter Wright could only manage 21 goals from his 17 games.

He’ll kick more goals than McKernan.

Hope so but not holding my breath

He played nearly every game in 2019. So it’s not a couple of years. Was he injured at all this year or just not picked?

I can see the similarities (i agree they are kinda the same level/output) but Stewart had a lot more competition at GWS to get a game. Sam Day kept him out of the side last year, who is nothing more than a role player. that concerns me a bit

McKernan kicked 5 goals last season.

If Wright does less than that, then, goodness…

2MP is just a placeholder until Eyre puts on some more size anyway.

We all know that Jones & Eyre are the next Lloyd & Lucas.

I reckon Jones is competing with Stewart more than Wright. One advantage Wright has over Stewart and Jones is that he’s a far more viable second ruck option. If Wright stays fit I’d be very surprised if he’s not lining up in round 1. What happens after that is up to him unless a couple of the youngsters jump out of the ground earlier than expected.

I’d say we’ll play 2 genuine talls most of the time plus Stringer. Odds are probably on Wright and Stewart to start the season, but hopefully at some stage at least one youngster does enough in the VFL to earn some games.

Hopefully Stringer gets himself in top shape and we can actually structure as per Tigers with 2 kpf (Stewart & Jones), and 2 rucks (Draper & 2MP) with Stringer into centre bounces and then doing as he pleases in fwd half Dusty style

Hopefully… but I’m personally not going to be expecting that. I think we should treat Stringer as a KPF (due to his inability to apply ground level pressure) unless a fitness miracle happens, hence we can’t play with that structure while we have Stringer.

Stringer is our entire forward line.

I hope we don’t waste more time trying to turn him into an 8 possession a game midfielder.

He’s put on a little weight but that’s pretty harsh.

I agree totally. Even if he gets super fit I’d much prefer him to play predominately forward

As long as he doesn’t loose the contested marking and it comes to ground I am not entirely against him. Just means our small forwards need to be really conscious of positioning to always be at his feet in contested marking situations, there could be some very easy goals for them.

For those complaining about Wright’s contested marking, remember that Brown is also pretty bad at a standing 1:1 contest. Brown gets his marks on the lead.

I was a McKernan fan but having a less mobile player with less contested marking ability may just work in our favour. Smack used to spend most of his time up the field providing a marking outlet meaning Lav and Townsend were our focal points.

Just leave Wright forward and at least give the crumbs an opportunity.
