#23 Harrison Jones

Looks like a handy pickup. Needs to spend some quality eating time with Dean Rioli is he’s still about.

St Kilda recruited a rookie ruckman at 200cm and 73kg. Makes Jones seem obese.

I’m 180cm so around the same height

Most of high school and my 20’s I was between 75-85kgs

However a couple years ago I had my appendix taken out and was on a fluid diet in the hospital for about a week.

Lost about 30 kilos and still haven’t recovered.

I guess the point I’m making is both Jones and I need to eat more

Holey moley that is an enormous amount to lose mate!!

Definitely, eat a steak every now and then please!! Or whatever the vego equivalent is haha. Do you find you just aren’t as hungry anymore or something?

He’ll bulk up in due course - until then he can float like a butterfly and sting like a bee using his footy smarts.

I’m sure he would be as solid in a contested mark as what we had with Brown this year.

I don’t follow the NAB League at all, so I don’t know what’s normal, but 8 goals in 12 games for a key forward seems… low? Is it just a low scoring league for talls?

Keep in mind two of those games the whole team only scored 1 goal and he does spend more time in the ruck and up the ground compared to other key forwards

Sam De Koning who was taken top 20 as a key defender noted Jones as his hardest matchup this year

Just watched his interview on club website. What a cracking kid. Got teary as he found out his best friend got taken by the Blues. He will be a fan favourite and a great teammate.

A colleague of mine, who is also a VFL Assistant Coach, described him as like Nick Reiwoldt in game style. Field running and positioning are a real strength.

I dug and found Danihers draft profile kind of…

In his underage TAC year he would have been 80-81 kilos, but put on 9 kilos during his under 18 year.
see below

The 18-year-old is tipped to spend most of next year developing in the VFL under the guise of Hayden Skipworth, the man who trained Daniher before school three times a week last year.

"Daniher put on 8-9kgs on in (2011),’’ Skipworth said earlier this year.

"So we worked on weights and also running techniques, which will hopefully help his hamstrings later on in his career.’’

The Dons told Daniher two years ago they would draft the talented teenager, who is now teammates with Dustin Fletcher - who made his AFL debut 335 days before Daniher was born.

THE JOE DANIHER FILE

Age: 18
Height: 201cm
Weight: 89kg
From: Calder Cannons:
Position: Full-forward/ruck
Draft range: Pick 10 to Essendon (father-son)
Plays like: Paul Salmon

Wasnt the hamstrings we needed to worry about.

On the other hand my missus had misdiagnosed appendicitis last summer. Kept nothing down for 7 days as it caused a bowel obstruction so everything came back up. Was confirmed ruptured appendix eventually but probably was for a while before that (was on antibiotics for another incorrect diagnosis, probably what kept her alive in the end), took 12 hrs to get an ambo from Wonthaggi (we were on hols down that way), then 18 hours after arriving in Melb hospital to get it out! She was thinner but only dropped from mid 60s to low 60s. Still can’t understand how she didn’t lose more…

It’ll need to be many courses
