Could be an option if Stewart doesn’t get up for round 1.

Admit it, you definitely didn’t read this as a comparison between Draper and Bryan.
Is there any merit in plonking this guy forward and having him play backup Ruck?
I get that his body isn’t ready, but could cause some issues with his height. Anyone know how good his tank is?

Must debut this year, late. I don’t think there’s any real urgency but a couple games would be a good taste. I think he’s got the hunger to want to step up and see what it’s really about.
We did see his peer Jones take it on a bit before the missed set shots but what I like about quite a few of our recent draftees is that there’s a boldness to them. A number of them come across as not being too short on confidence in at least having a crack at the next level.
Has a fantastic leap on him. At the moment he’s not as effective at the throw ins and stoppages where the opposition ruck can hold him down and make it a wrestle. That will come with years and strength. He and Draper will give us a hell of a lot of first hands on the footy in the centre square in the future. Can we make use of that?

Can certainly see other clubs coming for him, maybe not as hard as the Saints did for Draper though.
Definitely think he should get some games this year

Mobile, smooth moving ruck with great skills are hard to find.

Bryan is exciting. I think he needs to keep knocking down the door playing half season in VFL- with a late season debut with a few games.
In VFL he should be playing the 2nd tall forward/relief ruckman with Phillips when he is fit again.
Eyre & Bryan playing forward in VFL together is important for their future, as they will likely be together in the seniors in the next 1-2years with Jones/draper.

We’ll see how serious they are about development at selection next week. If they pick Phillips ahead of Bryan, the answer will be not very.

They can’t pick Phillips. Hasn’t played any footy at any level this year. Bryan is playing.
What if we don’t pick either, and ruck 2MP with chop outs from Hooker?

2MP may as well be a full time ruck. He competes for most marks with one hand. Never seen a forward compete for so many contests one-handed.

they just used Jones in the ruck for most of the last quarter. Tells you all you need to know.

Phillips was in civvies today at the VFL. He won’t play next week.
It’ll be Bryan and 2Mp sharing ruck duties.
