That I certainly agree with.
Vigo needs a crack, would bring him this week against West Coast for a taste
Maybe, but late in the year when he was given games he seemed to struggle to run them out and was pretty average, so maybe he just wasnât ready to take that spot yet.
Vigos 19 and has barely played a good VFL game.
Gawn had played 39 games when he turned 24, in Dec 2015. He might have turned out alright except for that mismanagement.
I donât know, I feel like the VFL is kinda of there for development.
Not sure going straight into the seniors is the only way to develop a player.
Of course, there comes a time.
This. I agree with you. Too much hysteria about Bryan for mine. He was a skinny project ruckman who lacked a tank. Very sad for him as he was on his way (and Brad Scott even alluded to this when asked in his press conference). Heâll be back and I suspect him and Draper will be our ruck combo for the next 10 years. Panic over.
Got to be worth a run against West Coast
Vigo had 9 disposals and a goal in his last game. Last year he averaged 9 disposals and 8 hitouts. If we pick him he is likely going to be our worst player by a mile, get subbed out and get dropped the following week.
Given his lack of fitness and physique, Bryan could have played an extra 5 or so AFL games last year. We can probably agree on that.
Suggesting not playing those extra AFL games and instead playing VFL has screwed his development is utter nonsense, as it fails to recognise the importance of VFL and building the necessary physique to compete with our oppositionsâ biggest and strongest players.
12 months locked in a gym doing rehab on his knee. It is make or break for him, he needs to find a way to come through bigger, stronger and fitter than he has been.
He seemed to finally have his training approach sorted out this off season so itâs now about putting his head down and doing the work. There are plenty of examples of ruckman who have come back from ACLs and been better. The two other rucks in the Melbourne game being the obvious example.
This is irrelevant. If Bryan was ready to get some experience and could contest at AFL level and we were playing Phillips and Goldstein ahead of him, then not playing him was a missed opportunity.
And if he wasnât ready then it was a good decision. He might have been ready for an extra 5 games last year, I donât think that 5 games at VFL level over AFL level is disastrous for his development. Being made to earn his spot in 2024 might have motivated him to improve over the off season.
He was ready. It was obvious when watching the VFL. Has been for some time.
Paul Cousins was saying that Bryza and VOSSY were ready for AFL games, but we chose to play Goldy and Weideman⌠that was over a year ago when VOSS was on the list,
Did wonders for Thilthorpe, he came back a man mountain
Sets a new standard for âinnocuousâ injury
Make or break? That is being overly dramatic.
Does this mean we have an offer on the table for Bryan? If so, hopefully he takes it.
It means talks have started.
If we lost both draper and bryan, we are toast.
