I think Bryan’s ceiling is a back up at AFL level.
If we had a #1 ruck and then Bryan he would look okay.
The problem is we have Bryan and then Blakiston

You can’t survive if your only skill is a decent ruck.
He can’t take contested marks. He can’t go forward and be a marking threat.
He has no future. Next, Vigo and HVH!

When Bryan plays like he did today it makes me think it will force our hand into HVH over Butler out of necessity.
I reckon we are better off picking up a mature ager ruck from another club. Very few rucks stay at the one club throughout their career. I’m sure we can find an alternate from another list. It seems very high risk to use such a high pick on a player that isn’t consensus top 3.

I agree you have to take the classy mid at picks that high and Tex is that
He had an average Nationals and so the het has come off him a little bit but HVH is exactly the player we need.
I feel for Nick Bryan as to be fair he’s still young and coming back from a serious injury but honestly, he just doesn’t have the necessary weapons in his arsenal.
I have never seen “it” with bryan, ever. I want to, but he’s just so meh at everything. There are far too many flaws in his game
If your not an athletic ruck who can impact around the ground, you better be a physical brute. Or kick a goal. His second efforts, presence and follow up after the tap are diabolical. Some of his one arm tackles and efforts to chase, boy oh boy.
There is no place for ruckman like bryan in the modern game. You wouldn’t even know he’s playing aside from the actual tap

He did well against the young GWS kid whos played less than 10 games.
Has been belted every other week.

I really thought there was something building pre-ACL, that combined with the rule change for the centre bounce seems to have had an effect.
I don’t see him involved in link up play as much anymore, he’s a nice kick which we don’t see as he isn’t involved in play. But he isn’t a presence in any other sense either.
He may be a victim of the gap betweem VFL and AFL, will be interesting to see what we do at the draft but Vigo is building very nicely l.

Tbf to Bryan this is the first year hes had the chance to ruck full time, all game against seasoned AFL opposition every week, and its off a knee reco.
Hes had no opportunity before this
Give him another pre season as he now knows how fit and strong he needs to be.
Next year will tell us for sure if Bryan is up to it.
