Did witches hats kick 45 goals this year or any other year. Or win you a game???
Watch th BabyBomber video ,we want do it cos we dont play the kids. But it can be done.
Great post
Detwistered yet?
1 year yes but again all these stats highlight $400k is insulting
christ stop this ā ā ā ā ā ā ā āinsultingā ā ā ā ā .
this is a deal that stringer negotiated and agreed upon.
shut the ā ā ā ā up.
Are Roos comfortable being uncomfortable?
If Mckay has a ripping year in the last year of his cotract should we throw him some more coin?
Great post and thanks for revealing this snippet of what Jakey has delivered.
Heās not the best or worst defensively but to declare ( think it was Henryās Angry Pillls ) heās just a witches hat off the ball is just low rent low calibre besmirching of a genuine footballer.
That would be wonderful, you could probably package more coin and a year or two more as an add on.
Coming from the joker whoās been sent to the naughty corner on numerous occasions for boringly insulting ā ā ā ā
And who constantly declared Jakey was cooked before the season kicked off, and heās still here berating anyone having a view on the next package for the package.
Mitchell has given Breust and Gunston another year
They are in their 30s
I hear on the grapevine Laverde and Stringer will definitely both leave
Hind has been delisted
Ok but
Who replaces these guys?
Also our game plan is terrible
We have so many soft players on our list
We will finish bottom 4 next year
You couldnāt blame Jakey for feeling insulted when Menzie gets 1 year before the season has ended.
Jake is contracted next year. He has nothing to complain about.
Dont see an issue with this, hope we do for 3 years and get rid of everyone
I agree.
The only way 400k is acceptable is if we only plan to play him for half a season. If strategically we are changing things up and he isnāt a part of the future then I can see why he isnāt worth >400k to us.
We should however acknowledge that he is worth more than 400k to another team and help him find a better offer. Donāt pretend he isnāt any good and that he should be happy with 400k.
It is part of a contract that he signed. He agreed to that amount himself. Weāre not low balling him.
Why does it matter if heās happy with it?
He negotiated and agreed to this outcome.
He should be blaming his management team, not the EFC.
I canāt get past just how much the pro Jake crowd are missing the point.
Anyone that says heās terrible or had a poor year is an idiot. So too are those that used terms like āelite.ā Itās even generous to say he was excellent. Are some putting too much weight into stats rather than just watching the game? 42 goals in a team like ours is a very good effort and his defensive efforts are not as bad as some suggest but putting too much stock in stats belies a playerās performance. Thereās absolutely a place for certain stats when assessing performance but get the cold spoon out for your love of stats, stats nerds and watch the game. That he missed too many clutch goals and didnāt do enough when playing against quality opposition also needs considering. He was, overall, merely good. Maybe very good if youāre kind. But my point is that thatās not the point.
Itās not at all about his performance this year, which was commendable. In fact, itās not even slightly about his performance this year. Itās about the future of both Jake and the club. Itās about the direction we take with youth and addressing a forward line that sorely lacks speed, pressure and goal sneaks.
We were all staggered with how much ease opposition defenders would casually clear the ball from our forward line. Iāve never seen this facet of the game executed so poorly. And then thereās the complete absence of any smalls that pounce like cats and have goal nous. All year blitzers were lamenting how too top heavy, void of pressue and slow our forward line was. Itās abundantly clear that we need at least 2 quality small forwards in our starting line up. The forward set up desperately needs a re-jig. So where does that leave Jake?
Thereās doubts about his professionalism and the example he sets. Despite playing every game this year, itās fair to say thereās also questions over his capacity to remain on the park. Heās 30. Heās slow. And as evidenced by his set shots, is easily rattled in front of goal.
To the keep crowd, I ask, how do you see the remaining two years (three if heās lucky) of Jakeās career panning out and how much value does he bring to Essendon given our current circumstances? How much of an impact would his absence make to a team that is quite a way off regularly competing with the competitionās heavy weights regardless? Which would you favour; pumping games into Kako or sticking with Jake? With all this being said, how are we not better off using what little trade currency he has elsewhere?
Not sure why youād panic at the prospect of losing him, even after considering his goal tally. Iād be ok with it. In fact, Iād be impressed if the club made this move. Being ruthless, fixing problems and playing kids? Sounds like something a club that might actually be on the right track would do.
Superb post.
