#25 - Jaxon Prior

Was more than decent and having the 3 key defenders there he didn’t have to fight out of his weight division at any time during proceedings. But, put that double fisted spoil in the bin. If you can get 2 hands to it, mark it…

There was also one instance where he just needed to hold the ball in when getting tackled (could have been Caldwell), instead he released the ball for a swans goal

He holds that in, he likely gets called htb as you could make an argument he fell on it/dragged it in.

I was more surprised we didn’t have anyone on the blokes waiting for it to come out.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing he doesn’t try and run up the ground with it, too many of our guys do that and get caught going back the other way

He got slammed somewhat hard as well it looked like, I don’t think he just let it go

Definitely needs to work on his contested game but he was good tonight. Best game for us so far.

Thought he was pretty darn good tonight.
Not sure why there’s always the same posters flocking to player threads to point out the few things they didn’t do well rather than the opposite.

No player is perfect and sometimes we just need to celebrate what they did well, and not the opposite.

It’s the same in the GameDay thread.
It’s like these people are just sitting there waiting for any sort of real/perceived error so they can let everyone know how bad a player they are.

I’m pretty negative these days when it comes to footy, but I hope I never reach that level.

Probably his best game for us. I’m still not convinced but has been playing better footy recently.

Loves a double fisted spoil

I’m waiting for the day he does one of these uncontested double fist spoils too close to the boundary line and gets pinged for deliberate.

He’s definitely getting better but needs to learn when to mark and when to double fist.

Also, I actually think he’s just an okay kick.

When he got to the club I was expecting he’d be at the Ridley level with footskills, but definitely is not.

His action looks good but it doesn’t translate.

He’s gelling with the other backs well, and has been pretty good since the Adelaide game

I mean, I wouldn’t put it past the umpires given what we see week to week.

But I’m fairly certain that in a marking contest you’re free to punch it wherever you like.

Never double fist is the correct answer.

If you can double fist you can mark. Additionally, it’s quite unpredictable where the ball goes.

Nick Maxwell used to employ it ‘strategically’. Quite often played into our hands. Literally

100% He doubled fisted a time in i think in was in the last qtr when he really need to go for the mark. He must be leading the comp in double fists!!! . cut that out of his game and he’ll be a better player

My view of Prior is if I don’t notice him at all he’s probably done a very good job.

Didn’t really feel like he did much against Sydney, which indicated that when I watched it back he kept his guy very quiet, didn’t make many mistakes, and was efficient in his disposal.

If he has more games like that he keeps his spot without much issue

He has made a dramatic improvement since his first 2 games. Dare l say he now looks compsed with ball in hand. Looks like all he needed was a few games with a settled defensve unit. While there is still a long way to before he becomes a regular fi ture, there is enough to work with to make it worthwhile

He can kick miles better than Kelly, but I know who I would want in a defensive situation and it ain’t Prior.
