#25 - Jaxon Prior

from 2012
Monfries - let go to accomodate Goddard cap wise.
2013 -

  • Gumbleton = Fantasia
    2015
    Melksham (redman)
    2018
  • Colyer = Round 4 pick unused/traded
    2022
    Francis = Weideman + Points for Davey

Players chose to leave us
2013
Crameri (Merrett)
2014
Ryder (Langford)

2016
Carlisle =Francis (Got back Gresham FA)
Hibberd = Begley + Clarke

2020
Saad = Reid
Daniher = Perkins
Fantasia = half caldwell

2023
Zerk = Duursma
D’Ambrosio = fourth round pick ( But freed up a list spot for Vigo Vissentini in the Rookie draft)

Stringer = Pick 53= half of Angus Clarke

Not sure I understand your point sorry. Only Monfries and Melk of that list were capable players in the middle of their career that played every week.

I’d trade Redman for Bice in a heart beat. These guys do exist at the second tier

Melk and Monfries wanted out.

Would the real Redman stand up? The 2022 and 2023 versions would be handy now.

Huh? Monfries wanted out like Melks, Crameri, Ryder, Carlisle, Hibberd, Saad, Mass, Daniher and Fantasia. Monfries was a big loss.

I thought we let Monfries explore free agency, and wouldn’t match the deal Port were throwing at him. We could have kept if we wanted to.

You don’t get to “let” players explore free agency. He asked to leave, and we agreed a trade as any FA compo would be offset by getting Goddard.

This was my recollection. He wanted to play midfield and got a better deal from Port than we’d ever offered. We were happy to let him go.

Edit: Not dissimilar to Melk who we offered 2 but who got an offer of 4 on better coin from Melbourne

It was more driven by Port, who didn’t want to lose their compo for Danyl Pearce (or was it Chaplin?)

Both left in 2012.

Yep, he asked to leave. We didn’t push.

Probably win-win for us with Goddard and them with Chaplin then.
