When Rohan Connolly did his spiel on Essendon (99% of which I agreed with) and bought up the lack of club champions we’d produced out of the draft that weren’t father/son selections, I thought Hooker was a pretty notable omission. A 4th round draft pick who had nothing given to him, on the trade table at least once & in danger of solely being known as a meme who couldn’t catch Buddy. Not only did he transform himself into an 200+ game AA defender, Crichton medalist who has swung forward to win games off his own boot a handful of times, but most importantly he stuck by the club at every turn, even when it didn’t want him. No one can claim he didn’t 100% maximise his talent. He is the definition of a club champion.
