#26 Cale "Thank You Mr" Hooker - rejects a brown paper bag from FCFC

I’m confused.

Surely Cale wasn’t going to get a run in AFLsuX?

He’ll be right. It’s a slight strain. He completed the session. The club is just being cautious.

OUR SEASON IS OVER. AMPUTATE THE LEG BEFORE IT GETS WORSE. SHUT THE CLUB DOWN FOR THE YEAR SEE YOU ALL IN 2020.

I really worry this could greatly affect his speed across the ground…

Any time an injury is bad, but at least it’s still 2 months off from the season starting

Gone.

He’s on the wrong side of 30 so I’ll be expecting more soft tissue injuries as he heads towards retirement in the next few of years.

He looks as though he’s going to do a hammy everytime he takes a stride so this is no surprise.

With Aaron Francis already a back-to-back Brownlow Medalist is there really a need for Cale???

Who cares.

Bring back Hard Tag.

Yes but Hoooker needs to have a specially modified training program for the entire year. His hamstrings have been a major concern for many years. We need him on the park as he is a very important part of our team.

An early onset hamstring?

Yes and the Shiraz is very good as well. Would recommend a visit - phone first as there is no cellar door but the two accommodation units are spectacular and the wine very good

Out for 4-6 with a calf strain as per Essendon website.

Experienced Bomber Cale Hooker is set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering a calf strain.

The 30-year-old was quickly nearing his return having recovered from a minor hamstring concern and was expected to take part in Thursday’s JLT Community Series clash with Geelong before sustaining the injury on the track.

Essendon physical performance manager Justin Crow said the key-position Don will be forced to the sidelines for four to six weeks.

“Cale was doing the last training session before he was due to return for JLT (game) two,” Crow said on the SKINS Injury Update on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately for Cale, he’s picked up a soleus injury – a calf strain – that will cost him six weeks.

“Cale had been doing everything right, he’s a professional.

“It’s disappointing news for us and him, but we’ll have to get back to rehab and keep building him up towards an early-season return.”

In better news, new Bomber Dylan Shiel is expected to be available for Thursday’s match after overcoming a corked quad suffered in last week’s loss to Carlton.

Shiel was forced to the bench after suffering the knock early in the final term at Ikon Park last Thursday, but Crow said the star midfielder has recovered well.

“We all saw Dylan leave the ground after getting that knock to his thigh, we iced it up straight away (on) match day.

“He’s a professional, so he’s been doing all of the work required to get that right.

“He trained and moved quite well, so we’ll be expecting him to be available for the match.”

Draftee Tuth ‘Tom’ Jok unfortunately suffered concussion against the Blues following an incidental head knock in the last quarter and Crow said the versatile 22-year-old is unlikely to line up against the Cats this week.

“Tuth’s had a few headaches after that (incident),” he said.

“The way he’s tracking, he’s showing improvement from the head knock, but we’re not expecting him to be available in time for the next match, so he’ll just progress as he’s able."

Tom Jok is still recovering from concussion suffered during the Bombers’ JLT Community Series loss to Carlton.

Crow said dangerous forward Orazio Fantasia, who was rested last week to recover from a minor corkie, should take his place in the line-up on Thursday.

“Raz trained really sharply in our main session and he’ll be available on modified game time this week.”

Crow was satisfied with the efforts of several Bombers who took part in restricted game time against Carlton and said each will ramp up their involvement in the club’s second JLT hitout.

“We were really pleased with the players we put in the game, they got through the minutes that we planned for.

“The players who weren’t on modified game time got through an average of 100 minutes, which is very realistic for an AFL game, which was pleasing and one of the things we wanted to get out of the game.

“We’ll be looking forward to progressing some of those players who were modified in JLT one onto higher game time in JLT two.”

The Bombers will face the Cats at GMHBA Stadium from 7:10pm on Thursday.

RIP in peace shiraz hooker

Fortunately we have Ambrose & Hartley as depth. Hooker may not have the legs to see out his very LT contract.
