#27 Mason Redman - till end 2028

Why would you bother on 2yrs when the market (& in particular Crows) is hot for now

Can sign a long term deal and secure his future as is.

He can still go where he likes now, bid matching still gives player choice

GWS matched Cats offer (which wasn’t well overs) and he got to Cats in end anyway, first time any free agent has had a bid matched thus far IIRC

Parish and Redman should probably both go for that option.
See where efc is in 2025. can still cash in on next contract, and get a decent payrise this time.

I think they both would want long term security with the cash attached.

They can always ask for a trade in a few years if they are not happy, but the smart play for them is long term security

He may very well sign a long term deal but players can sign up to the UFA as it gives them the right to go where ever they like with no issues of their target club being able to do a deal or having a bid matched etc.

He might think in 2 years he can get even more money as the salary cap will probably have raised again and maybe Tassie will be able to start signing players or at least getting some access to them, who knows.

Wasn’t the reports that the contract length was the issue not the dollars? If so I doubt he is only asking to stay for 2 years and Essendon is trying for longer, it is usually the other way around, we offer shorter and the player wants longer.

Not really sure what the issue was supposed to be tbh.

I’m not saying he will sign for 2 years just that it is a valid option.

According to this article we are confident he is staying on a long term deal.

“But Essendon is very confident that he’s staying on a long-term deal and that they’ll come to an arrangement.”

Redman just needs to look at Saad.

He wont be on peanuts if he stays at Essendon thats for sure.

Would be a mercenary act if he leaves just for even more cash.

Cant have too many mercenaries on your list otherwise you end up like Carlton.

Of course we’d be confident.
Adelaide would also be confident they can put together a decent enough package to get him to their club.
Usual useless article.

If the Crows come with a 750k x 6 or 7 year deal do we match. I still say yes, he’s too good to lose.

Word around is the red dog has said FU crows. I’m staying in the red and black for 4 more years.
Please let this be true
