#28 - Xavier 🏹 uursma

8:45 or so onwards

Basically the 6 week profile says that the Dons are the second hardest team to get a scoreboard return from a clearance (only Sydney slightly better) and second hardest to get a score from after a turnover

Also 11th best team ‘with the footy’ (attack/scoring?) and 3rd best defensively. Generating 61 F50 entries a game and only conceding 46.

Also that ‘we’ve not seen anything like this’ defensively from Essendon; the best 6 week defensive stretch we’ve seen from the Dons in a long long time

Belted in clearance last 2 weeks, if we let GC and Carlton do the same our defense will struggle.

I’m with Corn on this one, it’s great where we are but the next 2 weeks will be telling.

The dude’s a constant wet blanket, not where you’d wanna be I reckon, he was literally chiming in every opportunity to say ‘I don’t believe it’.

Look at the changes thread there’s a virus literally sweeping the club now, a loss to GC won’t be the end of the world

Next minute - Covid outbreak at the club.

Maybe after the bye will be telling :joy:

Yeah what does this mean. My guess is it’s efficiency inside 50 combined with something else.

Worth noting that from the last 5 games we’re 3rd last for generating shots from inside 50 at 43%. Best teams are up over 50%.

We’re getting 26 shots from 60 entries(Third most inside 50s in last 5 weeks). Interesting were 3rd for marks inside 50 but 12th for mark inside 50 rate.

This says to me we basically want a mark or 2 more a game and a couple more crumbing shots a game and will see our scoring spike by about 2 or 3 goals and we will jump up into top 4 with the ball.

The crumbing issue is one we need to figure out. Maybe we should just try tex or javey and see what happens. Hopefully Wright’s hands get a little stickier too

it’s something like how effectively you move/defend the ball between the arcs

Scott was hinting on this I thought. Spoke about the difference between filling your boots and winning the right way. I imagine that means we are sacrificing offensive potency for defensive integrity

Yeah true. I still think we can make it entries a bit more efficient without sacrificing the defensive structure too much

I haven’t really watched that show before, but watched last night. My comment was that maybe TV isn’t for Sam Landsberger. (He had something wrong with his eye as well, which didn’t help.)

Timestamp 6.30…

Would be nice if we could move the ball better as well

Would be nice if we had a thread for Xavier Duursma news…

I’m with you, I got a sore eye watching Sam Lansberger last night.

Does this hoyne bloke get paid to do this crap, fark me
See ball
Get ball
Run harder
Tackle harder
Kick more goals.

And yet we’re 14th for contested possessions, 14th for tackles, 9th for goals, and 2nd on the ladder. Which is why I guess someone gets paid to do that crap.

Some of the metrics are interesting, and help explain what’s going on with teams re fluctuating form.

It’s probably the best segment on SEN for the Week.
Wouldn’t be hard when you have Hodgey and that blonk Brad Johnson appearing on other nights.

i don’t mind hodge the commentator to be honest, he calls out umpire bullshit that other comms shy away from

I just find him excruciatingly boring.

he may be on shows. i haven’t heard him on sen, just on the ch 7 calls (i don’t watch pre and post match on ch7, strictly siren to siren)

What the ■■■■ is a midweek tackle and a Lansberger sounds like some dumb vegan option at Grill’d
