#28 - Xavier šŸ¹ uursma

I don’t know whose missus Hind banged but for guys like Menzie to be getting a game ahead of him is just crazy. He legitimatel had claim to being near best on ground in a couple of games and gives us something that we don’t have.

Both quick too - Roberts quick thinking as well!

I was actually expecting it to be quite a bad one so this isn’t the worst result.

My uncharacteristic lid off moment is to say that for the first final we’ll have all of Duursma, Ridley, Guelfi and El-Hawli - the surprise bolter! all available and with a month of footy under Parish’s belt :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Alright, that’s enough of that.

I think Duursma has been an important part of our team structure this year. He frequently adds to our defensive line when playing, and can impact forward.

For me, the most like for like player we have to take his role is Durham. Earlier in the year, we needed Durham to add to our centre midfield grunt and class, but we just beat the best clearance team in the comp with our current centre mid lineup that barely included Durham. We could also add Setterfield to the centre mid mix if we need more grunt and defensive work.

I wasn’t super impressed with playing Cox as a key defender. Lately he’s been pretty dangerous in the forward line though. I wonder if we might get better value out of Cox forward, or forward/wing, and Jones to cover a key defensive role. Or just bring Hayes in.

On the weekend, we went one on one pretty much across the ground for most of the game. I thought it worked pretty well, except in our backline. I think we’d get better value out of zoning in defence, and using Lav as our floating intercept marking option. He has played that role really well recently.

With the amount of running he does up and back not surprised he pings a hammy.

Only if some of his team mates showed the same commitment to work thier butt off

This sux we are going to miss him.

It was but a momentary lapse. I have sinned and will sin no more.

You don’t need to play to have a career at Essendon. He has proven he can play, now he can just sit back and enjoy the pay check.
