the biggest issue for essendon is apart from merrett, there are no a-graders, so everyones expendable until we get more. mostly good player with flaw? bin.

I see the errors, but the guy just runs all game and tries his guts out. Skills can elt him down but im a massive fan. And he will look better with stronger team around him, excited for the next few years.

The pies have maynard and McCreery, both bust arse but make iffy choices and execute poorly at times.

Just needs to tidy up the disposal a bit. At his best, I see him as our Ed Langdon (and that’s no slight, Langdon is the best at what he does). Not going anywhere.

Anyone even slightly suggesting that X isn’t a significant contributor to our team on a regular basis needs to slap themselves across the face and get a clear reality check that they know 3/5th of ■■■■ all about football and should never share their opinion on it.
It’s also so painfully obvious that so many people who drop the most ridiculous comments on this forum never go to games, watch it live and get a full view of what’s happenening outside of the few bloody meters the crap tv cameras cover. This guy runs so ■■■■■■■ hard defensively to provide coverage and support which is a trait 75% of our team don’t possess.

Oh, no, his defensive running clearly showed on TV last night too.
There were a number of occasions where he either got in the way of a Richmond forward chain, or was there as an outlet when we got the ball back, inside the defensive 50.
He’s not going to win a game off his own boot but he’s damn good at what he does.

I agree with this, problem is we have about 9 of these in our best 22 let alone 6 or so waiting in the wings just outside the side!
In a modern style of footy where the ability to cover ground both ways is absolutely critical, Duursma has been a long way from “meh” . His injury last year , for instance, definitely harmed our side as a totality. Very underrated.

i also used to think he was a pounce at port, but just a totally different outlook on this kid
