Roberts was our deepest small defender at times lining up on Kosi Pickett. That didn’t go so well for him and McGrath ended up playing on Kosi for the most part.
That is surprising.
Not saying he looks fast by any stretch, but he definitely has looked a LOT more dynamic than last year.
He recorded top speed on the ground last year as well, pretty sure twice.
Start him on the bench again this week. Keep him hungry. 4 goals don’t make a career but it can ignite one. Hopefully can kick another couple just to keep his momentum up.
Our best two small forwards are Kako and Gresham. If we go smaller he should start as part of the forward line. No reason why all 3 can’t start, considering the injuries.
Don’t see Jones getting dropped, and Caddy is a first choice forward. Maybe Perkins takes a starting role, but there’s definitely space for Menzie to start on the ground from bounce one.
I agree about SEH being more dynamic, he gives our backline a different look by adding a bit of much needed dash.
It really doesn’t matter who starts on the ground. If you start on the bench you’ll be on within 5 minutes.
You can say that and be accurate, but professional sports people recognise the difference between starting on the ground and starting on the bench.
There is an extra vote of confidence in being the guy on the ground from bounce one. Yes you’re entirely correct, the first goal kicker tends rush off the ground for a rest, and is switched for another forward, so he would be on pretty quickly.
