#29 Patrick Ambrose -- forward or back?

This guy is a machine. Chimes in for a goal from the paint too if you don’t mind. How about putting an exceptional athlete with not too many frills on the best forward every round? No worries. Kills the contest and wins it. Would not like to compete with this bloke.

I really understand why Woosha rates Ambrose so highly now. It was hard to see because of his run with injuries but he’s a seriously good defender and tough as nails. Happy for this bloke to get the key forward for the rest of the season. He’ll win most and lose a couple but he’s definitely the right guy for the job.

The tracker showed Ben Brown ran about 16 km ( mostly trying to get away from Ambo, to get a kick) there is no way Hooksy could have run with him.
The further Brown was forced to push up the ground, the less likely he was to get a set shot within kicking distance.

You cannot be taking marks on the wing and getting back inside 50 fast enough to kick a goal.

11km of that was when he was taking his four shots for goal. Ridiculous that that would be included, assuming it’s taken from his GPS device.

Begs the question, how is Brown given the time to walk halfway to spencer st without being pinged?

Because, like most changes, no one at the AFL really thought about what the side effects of the The Lloyd Rule would be.

Yep, as long as he starts his run in within 30 seconds, he’s fine. That the run in takes another 20 seconds is apparently also fine.

That is a great feat for any defender. Then add in the quality of players he is playing on and that’s damn near perfection

Nick Riewoldt said before the start of the season that he was a very tough match up. Had made a habit of towelling up his cousin of late too.

Seems to be back to his role a few years ago where he is going to the most dangerous forward. Prior to the final where Buddy gave him a bath few years ago.

Ambrose delivered!

He isn’t alone in the room, plenty of good defenders have been toweled up by buddy. I think Hurley is a better matchup there though.

From Club Website:

No-fuss Ambrose is in career-best form

Key defender Patrick Ambrose isn’t one to blow his own trumpet, but he has quietly put together a sensational patch of performances as the side has turned its season around.

He may not have the flare of fellow tall defenders Michael Hurley and Cale Hooker, but he is often the one tasked with taking on the opposition’s biggest and best goalkicker.

Ben Brown was Ambrose’s latest scalp on Friday, kicking just two late goals after plenty of close attention throughout the match.

It followed cracking efforts against Melbourne and Brisbane where Ambrose finished well on top of Dees pair Tom McDonald and Sam Weideman before dominating Lion Eric Hipwood.

He may never receive the attention that Hurley and Hooker do, but Ambrose is clearly an important part of the defensive unit.

He’d be currently leading the B&F I reckon. Sensational start to the year.

Don’t know why so many blotters want him dropped. Great role player selfless. Every team needs them. Our current Dean Wallis Kevin Walsh. Hope he has an injury free run at it this year. He deserves it.

If he plays well on DeGoey he will start to get noticed outside the club.

Giving you votes for most ridiculous post I’ve seen since joining Blitz. Are you drinking?
