Not under this coaching set-up, he is not.
lets not go too far hey?
and im a huge fan of parish but kicking is not a weapon.
Did you watch the game today?
Hit every target out in front.
He’s no dusty but he’s in the top 10 kicks at our club.
Not sure if you’re trolling
pls donnington
have you watched his career including juniors?
he is not an elite kick, which is what a lovely kick of the ball is.
I did, elite hands and proficient with both feet. Certainly better on both sides of the body than Myer, Zaharakis, Merrett, and Heppell and others.
Discuss …
hands elite, midfield iq elite, moving through congestion elite.
kicking the ball? passable at best.
Showed good signs after a patch where he went missing
What you’re saying is just crap.
His kicking is alot better than passable.
Ive watched him since we drafted him and have never been dissapointed in his disposal by foot.
Sorry mate but we’ll have to agree to disagree.
Went missing or played out of position ?
We have ordinary oldish players on the ball. Fark them off and play the kids ffs, 101 how to build a premiership team.
to further clarify the matter, when i say passable, i’d say heppell is not a passable kick.
Oh look, an inside midfielder! Pretty much gets us back into the game in the only quarter he plays in the midfield.
Coaches: Nah, what we really need is his mad skillz as a forward which served us so well in the first half… let’s put him back there!
Watch this guy move clubs and dominate in the midfield. Our coaches have nfi.
Well then you must set high standards.
Id say heppel is borderline passable.
I reckon this guy needs get some tips from Smith on his tackling technique.
He’s not using his weight and momentum (his and his opponents) effectively. There was a moment in the last in the centre of the ground where he and Fanta were outnumbered but both had the opportunity to lay dispossesing or trapping tackles which should have forced a ball up ot a free our way. Instead the Saints were able to clear the ball.
Neither of them used their weight effectively and both ended up on the ground trying to force the tackle with their upper bodies rather than keeping their weight off the ground so it goes all the way through their opponent. I’ve seen evidence of this technique floor in training videos of Darcy too.
It’s a little thing that could make Darcy a lot more effective for his size.
I’d love to see some more comprehensive tackling stats that include missed tackles, broken tackles, and ineffective tackles. I reckon we’d have quite a high %-age of ineffective tackles.
Considering the minute size of our midfield and the longstanding poor tackling techniques of EFC players you’d think the Club would have invested in a proper tackling coach at some point.
As for Darcy’s kicking, he is one of the few players we have that lowers his eyes when entering f50. And considering Merrett’s form Parish should have his onball spot and Merrett should be playing on the HFF or even off the HBF.
Not a dedicated coach obviously, but I reckon James Kelly was one of the better tacklers of recent years.
He was, but if the coaches were serious about the pressure game they say they are trying to implement then they should have hired specialist coach.
