Because it’s funny. Probably not happening, but funny nevertheless.

He reminds me of a forward pocket that used to play for us.

Lol you’re killing me man

It does.

FWIW I feel Perkins is a year or two from consistent midfield contributions. But yep, as I’ve been saying all year, the midfield per se is not a mile off.

I think the thing i had under rated was parish’s ability to involve others. Parish really likes to try and flick the ball around until there’s a really good outlet, Shiel tries to make that option himself. That baton needs to pass. Use Shiel in that chain of possession and his acceleration, smarts and hands could be a real handful. But we’ll be better off if we’re not being as Shiel- centric as we have been.

Wings (including that problematic fat side, high HFF role) are 2/3 of the way there. Ham maybe there, maybe not.

Mids are still pretty shallow though. One or two more injuries and we’re back to Clarke or Cutler.

Awesome. Glad I had a cheeky tenner at 100/1 before Anzac game.

Given he only polled 2 AFLCA award votes in the GWS game, it seems optimistic to forecast him getting 2 brownlow votes for that match…

Check it again. Darcy got 19 votes!

100% NOT deliberate

it’s interesting to look at Parish’s career numbers and observe just how remarkably consistent they are across the board from his very first first year up to last year. This year he has absolutely smashed through those numbers.

You wouldn’t expect to see that sort of consistency in statistics though a players first 3 to '5 years. That Darcy has had that consistency just brings me back to the same question. WTF have we been doing all this time with him.

All I’m seeing is 6 people at a bowling alley using the same name and having a lot of gutter balls.

Development and coaching has definitely played a part.

However a 23 year old with a hundred games breaking out isn’t that unusual. Especially as he was on the smaller size with limited tank.

Peteacca only broke out last year for example. Martin and Ablett took awhile to be dominant mids.

How much we allocate to development vs how much rests on Parish’s shoulders vs just natural progression is probably impossible. But it’s not all development.

His numbers over the last three years would have been better if he were allowed to develop.

But yes, you would also expect a spike around this time in his career.

The fact he’s doing it despite complete mismanagement up until now is remarkable.

remember, there was a time when we were told that it was parish’s forward ability robbing him of midfield opportunities
