Sort of feels like unless your name is cripps or daicos, you are not winning the brownlow, umps will just keep giving them votes no matter how they play, even if darc had a magnificent season he wont poll more than these two
Well they have shown their hand with the number of Cripps votes havenāt they. It was ridiculous that they (the umps) have āfixedā the top 2 placings in a betting environment ā¦ and thats OK
They should have that privilege stripped from them.
And if they can setup the number of winning votes for the Brownlow ā¦. what other outcomes are they āfixingā ā¦. think margins
Should be a legal enquiry into betting patterns at the very least IMOā¦ does not pass the sniff test
This is a good point. Perhaps the promise of success elsewhere while Essendon rebuild its list is the angle.
Remember how excited we all were this pre-season? Parish was flying and we said he was a chance for AA and maybe brownlow.
Hope he can get back to that. We had our best injury run in decades but lost Rids and Parish. Those two will help us out so much in 2025.
Not only do we need DP3 and those players to get back to their best, and the younger players to improve, we need the whole team to be able to play out a full season and peak in August, and stay healthy and for Scott to devise a winning gameplan and coach really well on gamedays. Its not impossible but not likely either tbh.
Wish we traded him while his value was high. Now we are stuck with a broken down player that had one good season and sucked us all in.
Poor kick and doesnāt defend, we looked out best this year when he was out of the team.
Parish is the least of our issues IMO.
He played in:
Saints win
Bulldogs win
Adelaide win
Anzac draw
Eagles win
GWS win
Freo win
What game this year did he play in where we looked better?
I remember complaining about our midfield set up, Parish was getting a free run at the ball and winning heaps of possessions, not because he was good, because we let him do it. We then let our opponents do the same during the actual season. Get tougher bombers.
Actually I felt our midfield pressure dipped down with Shiel, not Parish.
We will play our best football with Parish in the team, as long as heās fully fit, rather than him out of it.
Heās played way too much high quality football for us to be so dismissive of his effectiveness.
But did our opponents let him do it, were they not trying to prevent him from winning heaps of possessions?
If Iām coaching against Parish Iād let him run around free, heāll give us the ball back.
Was literally a one man force in that final against the dogs and as soon as they tagged him in the second half we couldnt get our hands on the ball.
At his best heās a good footballer.
We have heaps of players who are very good at their best, only on their terms though, our blokes are best case scenario players, resistance and they wilt.
I concede Iām likely harsh on Parish.
The best is when he wheels around on his left like his Darren jarman
If you could sacrifice one player on the list to secure a First Round Pick in order to secure the solution to a greater need, eg a gun young KPF, who mould you nominate. I reckon it has to be Parish as the you midfield talent we have can cover his loss.
Darcy Botulism
Your not wrong but thatās also the point heās just a good footballer when he could be great
