#3 Darcy Parish - signed to 2029 (Part 3, from April 2025)

Jones got injured 10 weeks ago and McKay a month ago. Both are still TBC. It’s just optics. Won’t be back this year

What do you mean ?

Jones had a setback when they attempted to get him to run progressing from the alt g, but felt pain so as a result it is hard to place a timeline.

McKay has a ruptured plantar tendon which is a decent injury, it is progress back to running and full loading which takes time.

I’d say ‘indefinite’ is a better description but tbc fits too.

Not unreasonable, but yeah they are likely out for the year.

Nino picks something and repeats it over and over (weak draft, Brad can do no wrong) and you don’t stop either indirectly or directly talking about Tsatas haha.

The only person who has brought Tsatas up is you. I was replying to a comment about if we traded him it would change the dynamic of the midfield.
Tsatas is out the door so it won’t be him taking that spot but it might be one of our first rounders.

Given the amount of games he’s missed the last two years, it’s not hard to imagine what our midfield looks like without him.

I know most people are pretty meh about him being out but I was hoping to see what he could bring to the table after a good solid bank of games. I feel like we’ll just never see him making anything like the contribution we thought a few years back. It sucks.

They’re only reporting what others are saying. It’s considered the weakest crop of Victorian talent in a draft for a long, long time, and that’s where the bulk of the draft comes from. That’s why we need to either package up some of those picks to get higher in the draft order and get one of the best prospects, trade into next year, or obviously look at getting someone in already in the AFL system that will be a game changer for us. We can’t have another Cox/Perkins/Reid result if we simply take all 3 picks (pending a Draper departure) in November.

I have an inkling, but no hard evidence, that Aussie rules is starting to face stiff competition for talent from the round ball codes (bball and football)

If it’s not already it will be soon.
My kids want nothing to do with football a lot of guys I grew up with playing footy their kids are now playing soccer or basketball or both

Without international competition our game, standard, skills etc. can go “down the toilet” and we can still say we’re the best in the world.

Really should be less teams in Div. 1 and then Div 2 etc

But what about finals?

Good point I think he might make it back to be able to go and watch Collingwood versus Geelong in the granny

And the AFL want to bring in more teams like Tassie. The draft pool isn’t deep enough or talented to support 19 teams imo

Agree. The pool is very small.

Plenty of people said much the same thing when the competition went to to 14, then 15, 16, 18 teams, and yet here we aŕe.
