This is true. And that’s been a driver of Essendon’s long term failure.
We recruit talent, they get caught in an injury cycle and don’t develop. This is accentuated by not having a development focussed and resourced club.
Dodo had his failings but the gurus and ‘experts’ thought when selected many of these talented players were highly regarded. Twomey had lots of them high on his pre draft lists. Few of them progressed unfortunately.
Sadly, Parish, Reid and Ridley are among our most talented that can’t get fit, conditioned and develop as hoped. All structurally important planks to any list build plan.
That’s because he’s lost valuable development game time, being often forced to play out of position and in an ever changing defensive group. Difficult to excel with all the factors.
Continued leg /soft tissue injuries and back. You’d think that after 4 years of repeat injuries the fitness and conditioning staff would have figured it out. Clearly not. Get someone who can figure it out.
Our fitness and conditioning team needs the cannon
The biggest issue with Parish coming back is we’re literally no different with him in the side results wise. Parish will go back to getting 30 disposals and on field we’re the same. Tsatas can do the same job if given the games.
The best we can do is hope we can pry a first rounder from another club for him at the end of the year and pay some of his contract.
