#3 Darcy Parish - signed to 2029 (Part 3, from April 2025)

From 2023

We have to be the hardest supporter base to please when it comes to some of our better players. Parish, so far tonight, proving a few wrong.

to 2024

Hasn’t been great so far but still one of our best midfielders and will turn it around at some point

to 2025

10 good games in his career (out of what? 150?), a couple on ANZAC Day, and this guys reputation far outweighs performance levels.

Another victim of the gloomer pipeline. Welcome.

Two years ago?

Well done on doing your homework. A bit weird but whatever.

Opinions can change. We are not getting value for money at the moment on any level - and haven’t for a while.

The contract lies too? Nah. Can’t stomach it.

People talking about Parish like he’s dead.

It’s only a calf injury. Yes he’s had a shocking start. I’m probably more upset about caldwells hammy, he has looked to go to another level.

With Caldwell and Tsatas injuries it shows importance of having good depth.

Parish likely will be rusty. But could be handy in the back end of the year.

Take a good mid season draft selection and hopefully finish the season off stronger than previous years.

We still can’t fit Johnson and Day-Wicks in the side.

You just know if Parish went to the cats for a third rounder he would turn back the clock to 2021 form.

Overall looking to 2026

B: McGrath Reid Ridley
Hb: Roberts McKay Johnson
C: Duursma Durham El-Hawli
Hf: Gresham Caddy Martin
F: Kako Langford Draper
R: Bryan Caldwell Merrett
In: Perkins, Tsatas, Parish Redman
Sub: El-Achkar

emg: Hobbs, Day-Wicks, Guelfi, Jones

Shiel no contract offer.
Try and move Wright on
Hobbs depth in vfl or explore options

Parish is a great onballer. It’s just been a few years since he’s been able to really show it.

Haydn Bunton Sr. is a great footballer too. It’s just been a few years since he’s been able to show it.

Very good player - when fit. Problem is more often than not he’s unfit. I’d consider a trade to Geelong

Geez!:flushed:
I didn’t realise that Draper was that important to our future team!! Got him playing 1st ruck and forward pocket at the same time! Wowee!

Just Donslaughts descent into madness, better men / women will succumb as well so not much to see here

This is true. And that’s been a driver of Essendon’s long term failure.

We recruit talent, they get caught in an injury cycle and don’t develop. This is accentuated by not having a development focussed and resourced club.

Dodo had his failings but the gurus and ‘experts’ thought when selected many of these talented players were highly regarded. Twomey had lots of them high on his pre draft lists. Few of them progressed unfortunately.

Sadly, Parish, Reid and Ridley are among our most talented that can’t get fit, conditioned and develop as hoped. All structurally important planks to any list build plan.

Symbolic of Essendon post 2000.

Check again. There are plenty here saying he has only ever been any good for one season, some say even less.

FWIW; even if he fully recovers, l would still explore a trade option for him at the end of the season.

Ridley is ■■■■■■■ average.

This forum splooges over him. He’s an average medium sized third tall.

That’s because he’s lost valuable development game time, being often forced to play out of position and in an ever changing defensive group. Difficult to excel with all the factors.

It’s legit got nothing to do with that.

Hes just nowhere near as good as what this forum thinks he is.

They’re definitely contributing factors.

But the days of expecting him to be a dominant defender when he gets back in the team are long gone.

Continued leg /soft tissue injuries and back. You’d think that after 4 years of repeat injuries the fitness and conditioning staff would have figured it out. Clearly not. Get someone who can figure it out.

Our fitness and conditioning team needs the cannon

Yep fitness and conditioning department into the cannon ffs

So what’s the actual issue with Parish and realistically how far off is he? Seems min 6 weeks away

Calf.

They said 4 weeks but it sounds likely more.

We’re 19 weeks away from officially deciding to trade him.

The biggest issue with Parish coming back is we’re literally no different with him in the side results wise. Parish will go back to getting 30 disposals and on field we’re the same. Tsatas can do the same job if given the games.

The best we can do is hope we can pry a first rounder from another club for him at the end of the year and pay some of his contract.
