jesus christ…
Blitz is still the old blitz
Good news. Caddy completed a fairly reasonable intensity session this morning.
He was running flat out and participating in drills, including marking (but non contact).
Kelly, Hobbs and Shiel also did the session and all moved well.

Awesome news… thanks for the update!
Wonderful, I was wondering how he was going, tx for that
Great work @Begbie
RESURRECTION
News of his death was greatly exaggerated
I reckon in the long term it’s going to be a good thing that caddy doesn’t play round 1 and have the AFL (more so essendon fans) going crazy over him in the early parts of the season.
Make him earn his position and show his worth.
We’ve seen it all before when an essendon first round pick is over hyped from early season performances and really plateaus. Eg cox, Perkins, jones, McGrath, Hurley, Heppell.
You wouldn’t have seen the above mentioned players putting in the extra yards and have the hunger like tsastas is in year 2 coz they would’ve got ahead of themselves based on the early praise.
Yeah playing Hepp and Hurls early really curtailed their career.
I’m not saying playing them may have had an effect …. It’s the hype that surrounded them because fans overreact to youngsters’ performances early in their first season.
Play him we need to pump games into him quickly
Do you have any proof of this claim?
If not it is just you showing your bias.
Caddy will come into the team when he has earnt his spot.
Can’t prove a negative mate and never heard reports like i’m hearing of tsatas this pre-season.
It’s human nature to get comfortable.
And the proof is certainly in the pudding.
Yeah it’s not like Hurley or Hepp went on to win AA or anything. Clearly just weren’t driven enough because they played early games…
Basing your entire opinion on some training reports is definitely proof enough! I commend you.
I knew someone would bring up their AA award but truth is they were being talked about as the next big things after year 1 so they really didn’t meet expectations from then on that were held at that point.
Fact is first round picks from essendon nearly always get over hyped.
Name me one who hasn’t in the past 15 years. I’ll wait.
Awards* Hurley won two.
And yeah I wonder what could have contributed to those two not becoming absolute superstars.
Injury? A certain saga that pretty much robbed both of 2 of their prime footballing years?
Nah. The lack of drive from playing games in their first season. Definitive proof.
As far as hype. Every player on our ■■■■■■■ list (that hasn’t come from another club) is overhyped. It’s just how it is
Case in point - hopefully caddy working his way into the team results in there not being the overhype
Players play when they are ready to play and the U/16-18 system is so good nowadays that several first round draft picks are playing near full seasons from the get-go. Whilst I get the point you are making I also don’t feel it’s necessarily applicable for all draftees.
2020 draft is an anomaly, can’t count Cox/Perk/Reid. And Jones was a mid-2nd round pick.
Hurley was a great player for the club, he was a gun that had ongoing injuries and then the “saga” years finished him off way too early. Heppell just never quite lived up to expectations, like several AFL players before him - I don’t see it as from being played too early though. Don’t underrate his foot injuries, he was pretty good prior to that.
Caddy will play when ready, don’t think they will be rushing him due to the sore back he had a few weeks ago. If it weren’t for that, I reckon he’d be ready to go straight away.
