#30 - Nate Caddy - thru 2031

If we were offered 7 goals out of him and Wright before the game started, we would take that every day of the week.

Wasnt his day personally on Sunday, but it was 2MPs.

Im just imagining what competent coaching could do to us … there are glimpses of what individuals can do. Put in some forward structure and cohesion, and will be great to see Caddy flourish.

Agree - VOSS would have been a great enforcer.

Lloyd was always a more productive forward when he had Steve Alessio beside him. When Alessio retired Lloyd kicked far fewer goals.

Good luck anyone regularly finding space the way we hack the ball forward. We were also smashed in clearances particularly centre clearances. Yes, Wright managed a bag but most of his goals came from free kicks.

The facts are that Caddy has been carrying our forward line in a team that is currently the worst list in the comp. Of course this is going to translate into forward leading patterns that look backwards and messy.

Does Caddy need to work on how to better adapt to dirty ball entries… sure. Does he need help creating separation and space to lead in to… 100%.

I’m more of the opinion that this as much an execution peice as it is a trained game strategy.

Caddy and Roberts nominated for best 22 under 22. Well done boys.

When big Archie May gets going next year, along with 2MP and Caddy this gives us a decent tall set up.

Ideally suited to the long bomb into the forward line.

Dyson Sharp is a bit stiff IMO - he has played 12 games, probably woundn’t make the team, but good enough for the squad.

I would have Robey and Sharp ahead of guys like Cam mcKenzie, Ed Allan

After Lloyd tore his hamstring off the bone he kicked far less goals.

One thing I’ve noticed in caddy’s game a lot this year (probably after the media blowing smoke up him all year), is how often he burns teammates to go for goal. It’s become a bad habit he needs to get out of his game. There have been 2 or 3 occasions every week for a while now.

We’re not flag fancies. If i’m the coach i’m telling him to take as many shots as possible. Learn under match conditions while nothing is on the line.

I think you wanna teach good habits with young players though, as it can go through the team pretty quickly.

I can only think of Caddy play on, where umpire called free back and Huss went back and kicked it.
But its more about where he has opportunity of shots.

I like Day-Wicks backing himself.
Yes sometimes Caddy takes on more than he could chew.

Kako on the other side would like him to back himself and have a shot if there is a chance to get one off.

Huss blocks, all 173cm of him, he’s a good team man.

He was more productive with Lucas.
Struggled the year Lucas did his knee. Interestingly, Lucas wa just as good, if not better, the year Lloyd sat out.

Yes, this also restricted his output.

Some better set shots and drove his knee and body into the spine and ribs of an opponent that got in his way.

Could have seriously hurt the bloke. Wonderful to see.

40 goals for the year in this team with this delivery is a mammoth effort. Frustrating at times but the talent is undeniable

40 goals and he has enormous scope for improvement.

Got some serious upside if we can develop him further.

when you consider voss who everyone here raves about has kicked 39, in the top side with lace out delivery it is really a decent effort from caddy, cant help feeling he left a lot on the table as well

He would have been a great team mate to Caddy.
