We were beating Geelong to him, we were beating other pick-buyers….
I have to say that there is a bit of a young Jack Riewoldt in the Caddy highlights.
In both his height (low 190’s) and appearance I get Begley vibes.
Only I’m hoping he’s significantly better, obvs…
Haps gonna kill you for that
Except that Begley was/is 188.
Nate looks great. I know the don thought he wasn’t as polished as other options, but I am so happy we have another forward option on our list.
He already looks like he might take on jones or weidemans spot against a smaller backline.
A big bodied footballer who can take a great grab and kick a goal? yes please.
True.
He also wasn’t overly good.
begley was hot trash, lets face it. marking and skills were nowhere near the levels displayed by Nate in the footage available. Begley was just a lower level battering ram.
And all ■■■■ in heavy traffic. Apart from the Josh model.
Now that’s the type of insightful, in-depth analysis that you just don’t get in the MSM.
Yeah, but apart from all that, he’s exactly like Begley.
There you go. Sounds like WC had their F1 on the table for Caddy which is … staggering.
Patrick Voss sitting at home just nodding in recognition that it cost us a first and second round draft pick to fill his spot in the side.
Pat must have kicked Brad’s dog.
Agree with that. Happy with the trade. We get who we want, the Cats get who they wanted and we prevented any other club from nipping in before our pick to draft him.
We also tried to trade to GWS for Curtin…
Giants recruiting boss Adrian Caruso spoke exclusively to ESPN about the offers GWS canvassed.
“We had a great discussion around the West Coast future first because there’s potential for that pick to be really valuable next year, but we wanted to hit the draft this year,” he sid.
"It was more ‘How far could we move back from 7?’. Essendon was throwing stuff at us, obviously Adelaide, and we had a few discussions with other clubs.
“The Adelaide one worked well to get us from 16 to 14, and in the end that was the difference in us being able to grab James Leake.”
I don’t think anyone believes Voss has the talent or natural attributes of Caddy.
What is even more staggering is that Geelong took pick 11 and 31 over a likely future number 1 pick.
So West Coast obviously also rate Nate Caddy very highly.
