#30 - Nate Caddy

Most of the non competitive the forwards showed in aerial contest was due to terrible delivery by the midfielders that didn’t give them a hope of competing

Had TDK dropping back on him

Start the Caddy/May combo ASAP!

I’ve never seen anyone run under an incoming kick more than Caddy.

Lloyd mentioned how Sheedy got him to mark arms out, just for that reason to negate the defender’s punch.

As for his running under the ball Caddy and those up the field need to practice and practice and practice some more and sort out a system that works for all.

Not sure what he offered today again, how long do we defend him as being young

Until he’s a bit older. He’s 19 years old trying to lead our forward line…he’s allowed a quiet one from time to time surely!

Sheedy coined the statement: until they reach 50 games they are still doing their apprenticeship.
He’s on 23 games and is 19 years old.

Remind me 27 games later then @IceTemple

As our number 1 key forward?
Probably another 5 years.

As long as it takes until we get actual real coaches who actually know how to coach these guys.

Caddy’s playing the same game he did in under 18s which is an absolute indictment (as usual) on Scott and his team of frauds.

I would give both him and Kako a rest next week against Freo. Give em both 2 weeks off

No way. Kako was good this week. And they get the week off the next week.

I’m not saying they were bad. But what’s the point of the poor buggers getting another smashing next week.

Needs to learn to read the flight of the ball better. He was up against the player that we gave away to get him and got absolutely pantsed. I know he is 19, but seriously, he should be hitting more contests and at least getting his hands to the ball.

What’s clear is that he’s mostly X factor at this point and not much else.

Jury is still out on the footy smarts but I think at a minimum he needs some very specific situational coaching which I don’t think there’s any evidence of Essendon providing him so far…

We could do no worse than chucking him to chb next week

It must be demoralising to be a forward where no one up field, including the supposed elite kicks, know how to kick to your advantage.

If Caddy has a tendency to run under the ball, then they should be giving him more buffer to run on too and not kicking it to him like he is gonna out wrestle his opponent.

But time and time again it’s either an indiscriminate bomb or an over cooked attempt at a hit up pass, which is gonna effect most peoples ability to provide consistent effort

Imagine Caddy in a good side where there is a functioning forward line and players who are elite at kicking inside 50 would proably win the rising star.

Poor kid must be a nightmare to play in our forward line.

Caddy is learning on the job. His leading patterns and putting to positions then running somewhere else, doesn’t help his cause
