#4 Kyle Langford — not our worst in possibly our worst

Yep, kicking that goal is clear proof he’s a midfielder and not a forward

I’m not saying he can’t forward, I’m just saying he can definitely midfield which some have doubts on

Oh he can clearly midfield, the argument is where he plays his best footy / is of most use to the team.

Be interesting to see if Laverdes injury affects this, because we looked good with that mobile medium lead up option, and I’m not sure we’ve really got a replacement ready to go who isn’t Langford.

Inconspicuous start to the year.

A Langford bashing “Essendon fan” was telling me about something he did on the ground concerning Watson or Goddard… seaid it was really bad and Langford should be reprimanded. Anyone have a clue what that is about?

Thought he was pretty good tonight. Was only watching the screen though.

Thank fark he finally nailed that goal near the end. Must’ve been nervous coming in and just pumped the fist as soon as it came off the boot. Let’s hope he keeps rising from here.

Apart from that goal I thought he was pretty poor.

I might just be able to understand if you said he was ‘ok’ but ‘pretty good’ … really?
I think he has some qualities that could allow him to be a good player for us but if you’re talking about last night’s game in isolation, he was ordinary.

Kyle stank up the joint last night.

Has not had a great start to the season, but it’s round 2. A stint in the ressies when Francis is good to go.

Needs games, struggles with the pace and this effects his decision making. I think he has a lot to offer but we aren’t going to see the rounded player he will become for a few seasons.

Shows he has the ability but his kicking for goal was shocking, as it was last week.
I’m pretty sure he will develop into a pretty good players but he regularly produces horror moments.

Jobe said something to him after that high free he gave to Rich, then later Langers lined up in the middle and pushed Jobe away from him when he was saying something to him

If true then i would drop next week.

Guy in front of me last night said Langford is the worst player we’ve had for 30 years.

While that may be an overstatement, last night he was absolutely hopeless. Anyone who says he was even half passable last night is way off.

I think that was Jobe getting to the center late and Langers pushing him to his assigned spot, not much in it.

The irony is that for all the best 22 threads in preseason, between injury and form we don’t really have a replacement. Green and Laverde injured. Redman, Long and Begley innocuous in the VFL yesterday. Hocking and Bird were the best smalls in the VFL, both are quite specialised role players.

Good. Sounded out of character for Kyle.

Thought his intensity was good last night but he battled overall. Certainly not a basket case, but a fair way off being a regular AFL player, which I’m sure he will become with experience.

Exactly. I thought he had a great JLT playing midfield but he seems to have gone backwards a little in the first 2 rounds playing more of a forward role. The reality is if he’d nailed the 2 getable set shots last week and then another one we usually expect Kyle to get this week then we wouldn’t be having this conversation. I’m not overly concerned.

He is lucky that Laverde got injured when he did because Jayden was carving up that 3rd tall medium leading forward role.

OK so he didn’t have a good game, but, boy oh boy wow wee, the dumb things said in the heat of the moment.
