Sadly we did pay overs for Ben. But at the end of the day I prefer us getting the gain in a key defender rather than Hawthorn. And also whoever North drafts in 3 years time will walk out of that irrelevant club anyway.
Geez if they’re irrelevant what are we?
He improves our list. Don’t care how much we paid. Hurts a little that we drop one spot on the draft. Happy
more relevant than north
All I get from that video is the annoying ■■■■■■■ whistle!!!
Bloody microphones.
Worst thing about watching AFL.
When will Ben Mckay suffer his first long-term Essendon injury?
- Pre-season (before Christmas)
- Pre-season (after Christmas)
- Pre-season community/practice match
- Last training session before round 1

If recent history is any measurement, even that’s a stretch.
Fark North
Now we need his brother !
There’s no pleasing some people.
People moaning about his salary, the length of his contract, his taste in wallpaper need to get a grip.
NONE OF THAT AFFECTS YOU….NONE.
I wish him every success - if only to do justice to my user name

I will have you know I run a business selling wallpaper to people named Ben who play for Essendon.
Pickings have been slim since the business opened. Relying on players like Ben Howlett, and Ben McNeice
But this year is set for record profits with McKay and Hobbs on the main list.
So long story short I am deeply invested and affected by his wallpaper choice, salary and contract length in that order.

I know it’s the dumb system and because they finished 2nd last, but Norf netting pick 3 for this still disgusts me.
I 100% agree. I don’t like the fact that the AFL is not clear on what the criteria is for determining the draft pick and even though we are benefitting from this, I personally feel the AFL should determine a points value and then make the recieving club cough up the picks rather than everyone else needing to move back in the draft.
For instance, if the AFL determined that he was worthy of Pick 3 and that is 2000 points, then Essendon would need to come up with 2000 points worth of draft picks, similar to father/son. Perhaps make it exactly like father/son and give the club a 20% discount.
Weird seeing a defender beat Hawkins
Look at it this way…
A) if we didnt get him, Hawthorn would have and
B) the compo from the Hawthorn contract would of still triggered pick 3 compo.
Therefore we filled a need in an inevitable situation.

Cox also can play tall/small
Not sure he can make the grade yet
Pretty excited by the McKay signing.
He’s a massive unit, who’s proven to be an elite intercepter and he’s coming into his prime.
McGrath - McKay - Ridley
Redman - Reid/Hayes/Cox - ?
That’s four AA potential players down back along with talented developing talls (picks #8, #10 & #25) to take on CHB. Just need to find another gun flanker to complement Redman.
