#34 Andrew “Flipper” Phillips - flipping off the boots

Considering both players are 200cm+, it’s certainly high impact.

Are you confusing high impact with high contact?

High impact would be the grading if he completely knocked out his opponent

We need it either un cited/thrown out based on minimal contact or it be careless

Careless, low and high is a fine

Someone posted the chart for the grading. It’s all irrelevant because he made head contact. Even if it’s “careless” and “medium impact”, he still gets a week for the head contact. That’s my understanding anyway.
Edited: Speedy posted just before me with the chart

Come on man, I was making a joke. They are both tall, so the contact was high!

Should be a fine. Careless, low impact head high.

How do you differentiate between low and medium impact?

What should save Phillips here is that it wasn’t “medium” impact, it was “low”.

Fine with a fine.

He was really good yesterday, won some clean taps and really threw his weight around.

Hell get a week for the bump which is fair tbh. As soon as you run past the ball and get someone in the head, your gone

He’s most definitely getting a week.

Low impact is what Carlton players get, Medium is what everyone else gets.

The “Clumsy” defence seems to work for many ruckers. Goldy was the serial offender with the flying punch to the jaw when the footy was 10 metres away already.

May not be a bad thing. He could not jump on Sunday. Needs a break.
Besides Geelongs ruck options may be tall and athletic, but are not that good.

Last two weeks from Phillips have been fantastic. I honestly didn’t think he had it in him. Will be a shame if he gets a week but who knows. At least Bryan will get a chance for a whole game with a low expectation.

It’s a clear one-weeker.

I know we are all intent on finding an anti Essendon bias under every rock, but he ran past the ball and got him high. He is lucky he didn’t get him flush, otherwise it would have been more.

Great opportunity for Bryan.

Phillips was probably due for a down week next week anyway, a week off will do him good, and Cats rucks aren’t that great are they?

Bryan comes in fresh too after a week off.

There is the “because Essendon” factor. I didnt reckon on that before, so yep, one week.

So Jordan Lewis was just seeking retribution on behalf of the rest of the AFL?

Definitely high contact and low impact. Given he intentionally initiated contact, can’t see how it isn’t a week.

Can he get a discount for a good record?

Based on past MRO citings it’s pretty clearly careless and high contact. The only issue is - is it medium impact (one week) or low impact (fine)?

Buddys hit on Collins earlier this year was careless, high contact and medium impact.

But Buddy’s impact was sufficient to spin Collins through 180 and drop him to the ground, O’Brien wasn’t hit anywhere near this hard. Hopefully it’s low impact and a fine… but this is the MRO so who knows.
