Played a more effective and efficient game than Lav. That's exciting!!I remember when we drafted him, Dodoro said that internally he was rated right there with Lav and Langford.
I’d love to believe that, but the cranky realist in me says that if we really rated him that high, we’d have nominated him as a regular f/s pick rather than just letting him fall through to the rookie draft and risking some other scrub team grabbing him ahead of us with pick 104 or something.

I don’t think that’s fair at all. There was about as much fan-far when he was drafted - not much (dare I say Anthony got a little bit more). Anthony never debuted although he got one NAB game and neither he nor Jake was mentioned more than a couple of times whilst doing so.
I remember being a bit ■■■■■■ we didnt select him as father son in the draft. And waited until rookie draft.
But rookie list cost less and made him earn it more plus out of school footy.
Definately think jake had more fan fare than anthony. When he arrived
Anthony was like did we just pick him that early 30s due to family connection, as some thought we could have got him with a later pick. i remember wanting christensen at the time who went later to the cats.
Was a bit like the steinberg pick.
I’m thinking he could be a weapon off HB next year. He is defensively minded, fast, and importantly a great kick. He could be the one to give overlap running, and also open the corridor with his accurate kicking as we come out of defense.
I hope he emulates his dad’s run from near HBF this weekend to seal the game.

Thought he showed plenty today. And looks the goods as a mid.
He had some brilliant chases today, he has an extra gear that few players have. Got dangerous numerous times on the break only to be ignored. he keeps that kind of work rate up he’ll get rewarded more often than not.

Reminds me more of wanganeen in the way he moves than Snr, but he’s definitely good enough to make it.
He’s a long way off it at the moment. But he’s shown enough to suggest that with greater fitness, greater strength and greater experience he’ll be a real asset. Right now he’s playing in the seniors the same way as he plays in the VFL, and he has got caught out more often than not.
But he’ll learn. He’s only 20. He needs to do a shipload of work, but if he does, he’ll get there.
Whats next for Long? Has he done enough to warrant an upgrade to the seinor list or can he stay on the rookie list for another year?
Has shown signs and I like his attack on opposition players. Has good aggression.
