#34 - Jaxon “Arty” Artemis

I’ve only seen Artemis play a handful of times. Nothing to date, the good or the bad, may be part of what he is in several years. He certainly did some eye catching moves, just also some eye wateringly bad disposals/decisions. I also noticed that if there wasn’t an obvious choice or he was on the move, he went back a lot, even when that wasn’t a great choice. I felt more comfortable when he was sweeping it up in our front half or bursting out the back, than when he got it in a slow play in our back half.

Has the potential to be a Archie Roberts type with better decision making and disposal, hopefully that leads to him permanently replacing McGrath who’s disposal is diabolical

wonder if he is a sneaky chance for rising star nomination this week.

Will Lorenz & Oscar Ryan probably his main opposition.

He’s better defensively than I initially thought. Really showed a bit last night

I do like his speed he gets back quicker to defend than a lot of other guys, reminds me of the Saad days when watching live you could see that his speed to get back helped affect the opposition kicker streaming forward.

I mean, it is now a contest for second in the overall rising star. Could just about lock in Jagga Smith as the winner.

I thought it was Duursmas.
Jagga has played better under Fraser, felt like Voss was trying to protect him from midfield minutes a bit after a great start.

I would pick Robey myself.

Smith is a resounding favourite and rightly so.

If you had to pick who has the scope to be the best player of the current lot, Duursma by a fkg mile. He could be a Bontempelli level footballer.

But on the 2026 season body of work in isolation, Jagga Smith has been by far and away the best.

Arty might be a smokey for next year’s rising star if he gets a consistent run of games, since I don’t think he’d play enough this year to disqualify

Jagga averages more handballs.
kicks the same
Tackles - Duursma
marks - Duursma
Goals - Duursma
Willem also had to deal with a tag.
Willem more versatile.

Jagga Smith has almost double the number of clearances and score involvements vs Duursma .

But he stands out because FARK CARLTON have won more games, and in most of those games he’s fallen within their best handful of players.

Ive watched a lot of the eagles and some of the blues.

Opposition put work in to Cripps and Walsh so jagga can just do what he wants.

After Harley Reid. Duursma is probably the second guy who gets attention from the opposition at the Eagles.

Throw Jagga in the Eagles or Essendon sides with more attention and see how he goes.

Dyson Sharp is the best player from last years draft.

And I am going to fight TOOTH and NAIL against anyone who dares question me.

No hes not you fkn liar

Nice problem to have for once. Both are amazing. Sharpy is one you can build a midfield around. Get some running mates (literally and figuratively) to support him, but he’s the pivot everyone else can work around. Need someone in the LDU mould who can win it and break away from congestion and is comfortable inside and outside.
