#34 - Luamon Lual

I hope not but he has the typical second round half backer flanker picked up spend two years on the list then moved on just as quick

poor decision maker, skills by hand and foot only fair
Has a crack and is quick butā€¦
canā€™t see him making it

I really like his tackling, seems to be with some intent, although sloppy at times (creeps high).

I thought he was really good on Sunday, canā€™t speak for his other games but surely the negativity isnā€™t based on his last game?

With a question like that, you must be new here.

Truly is a race to see who can write a player off the fastest.
Pathetic really.

Its a bit over the top sometimes but im a big believer that most of the time you can tell if thereā€™s something there to work with and whether that player will be any good. Generally after a year

Of course its not always the case but i think more often than not, it is

I havent seen enough of lual to make a real opinion yet but i thought he was pretty good on the weekend

he has terrific athletic ability, I think you could form him into a very good lock down defender, just need to up his confidence

Yeah thats a fair shout. I think thats probably his best shot and we need another back pocket coming through

It was a careful consideration so that he would not feel out of place with the midgets Dododoro has got in.

He took a fare screamer in the intra club as I recall. He moves well and he attacks ball and man with intent.

Iā€™d he curious to see if he can add more size and strength and clean up his ball use a bit with another preseason.

Thereā€™s something to work with I think but I donā€™t have strong feelings either way on him yet.

Presumably will lose Kelly and hepp from line up in the short term and thereā€™s definitely while for lual in that conversation among with saad and roberts (though all of them are smaller than Kelly and hepp)

We all know I have no competition.

Youā€™ve really committed from the outset on him being Rogers. Iā€™m starting to come around and am going to start calling him that myself now, fk it.

Who is Rogers? Is he from our VFL side?
Havenā€™t heard of him before.
I think you mean Roberts.

It can take a while to get up to AFL level. Look at Jiath who started at Hawthorn in 2018. He is now 24 and regarded as a very good player off half back, when he can get on the park. No games in his first year, 2 in his second and 5 in his 3rd year, and he has been playing at a bottom 4 club. If we see continual improvement out of Lual at VFL level and we stay at top 8 level, he might get AFL games in 2026-7

I remember seeing jiath in a reserves game at windy hill and thinking ā€˜gee this guy has something going for himā€™. Was aggressive for a young guy too.

I understand the desire to draft impeccable kicks of the footy, but you have to understand that when picking a player in the 30-40s range, theyā€™re not going to be a good kick and athletic with leadership qualities and strong contested game, youā€™re going to get a player who is good at one or two things and then itā€™s on the development team to develop the areas of weakness.

Lual is an excellent athlete which is why he was drafted, I expect his kick will improve considerably over the next few years as he develops and doesnā€™t panic as often.

Your point would have a lot more merit if we actually had more good kicks in the team.

I am convinced Kelly will play under he is mid-30s, always getting selected on the wing and playing as a forward for the rest of his six years on the list. Then he will become a coach, director of footy and ceo. Never to leave the hanger until Global Warming causes Tullamarine to be under water.
