It was a very Geelong selection. Aside from him obviously being from the “greater Geelong region” they just seem to draft guys who are just good footballers that others might leave on the table because they look at what they don’t do or cos of how they tested. Big boy too. I still laugh at Dodoro’s quote after the 2021 draft where he took Hobbs and said something like “there you are bomber fans, there’s your big bodied mid”.

Freijah talk is 100% hindsight drafting, but I don’t think talk of Stevens is. Half of Blitz was wild for the guy at the time, it’s not like he was an unknown, or a reach.
Only issue is that he’d be yet another player wanting to start in the centre square every game.

Well yeah, as far as pointless exercises go, “imagine if we took the best player available with every selection we had” has got to be up there.

I’d say Lual (in his currentl AFL form) is more important to our needs than Stevens.

nah, a strong midfielder that can consistently hit targets by foot is also pretty high up there.

Also had 14 score involvements a record for a debutant
Playing against an uncompetitive Tiger outfit. Whereas Kako excelled against a top 8 side, with a higher rated game than the Geelong bloke

Lual’s okay-ish.
If he’s only getting it 7 times he can’t afford 2-3 skill errors.
Wouldn’t have him near best 22 but like his intent, and runs hard. See if its enough to make a player.

He has excellent intent when he does not have the ball.
Great run, great defensive intent. I wish every player on our list had this. If they did, we’d be competitive with anyone.
Problem is, he genuinely does not want the ball.
Hopefully it is just nerves still, but when it comes his way, he is 100% ■■■■■■■■ himself.
Keep persisting, young players are up and down week to week as weve seen the last 6 weeks.

Other than the obvious disqualifying factor he’s the definition of a VFPM.
I’d have SEH in for him immediately.
