His marking has surprisingly gone up a level recently.
I mean it’s not exactly a strength but every match he seems to pull in a random mark that you never expected him to.

He’s definitely been on the improve this season. Keeps adding to his game, with marks, goals and as ever tackling. Definitely in the best 22 for mine.
Guelf is arguably becoming the best #35 since Geoff Pryor maybe. I suppose Barry Young might debate that ?
Here it is…
Fantastic defensive sacrifice.
Laverde was beaten and on all fours.
Mihocek would surely have marked !
He’s gone from best 22 to best 18 for mine.
He is now our best pressure forward.
He has gone ahead of Snelling.
Massive improvement from him this year - a lock!
ANNOUNCE CONTRACT YOU COWARDS
Kane Cornes has identified a handful of free agents that he feels are flying under the radar in trade talks.
3. Matt Guelfi (Essendon)
“Guelfi is 24, he’s played 79 games, he’s got speed.
“I like the fact that he’s prepared to get under the nose of the opposition.
“He can play half-forward, half-back, go into the midfield and give a good bit of versatility.
“Go and give him a three-year deal, make him feel some love, tell him where you’re going to play him, sell him a vision and tell him he’s going to be part of your club long-term.
“I reckon he’d be feeling a bit out of favour at the Bombers and just not loved.”
Kane please! Out of favour, he has played every game when fit.
Guelfi is not a Free Agent or RFA is he?
Essendon to low ball guelfi
I’m kiding love this guy and he aint going anywhere
Just don’t tell Draper.
The bromance is strong between these two.
Who’s Kane?
Brother of Abel.
He’ll get two more years.
He is absolutely not a free agent (restricted or not), he was taken in the '17 national draft meaning he has played 5 seasons for the club, he has never been delisted and he is not in the top 25% of salaries.
But I guess what else do you expect from Kane ‘hot take’ Cornes, the bastion of footballing knowledge
IN-FORM BOMBER IN TALKS FOR EXTENSION
CONTRACT talks are underway for Essendon’s Matt Guelfi , who is enjoying a career-best season at the Bombers.
Guelfi is out of contract at the end of this season after inking a one-year extension last year but discussions have ramped up for a new deal.
The West Australian is keen to stay at the Bombers, where he has played 16 games this season as a permanent fixture of the Essendon forward line.
The 24-year-old kicked two goals from 17 disposals against Collingwood last week in one of his best games of the season as he’s found his niche as a high-pressure forward able to hit the scoreboard.
Guelfi, who was drafted by the Bombers at pick No.76 in 2017, would likely be in the Bombers’ best and fairest top-10 this season. – Callum Twomey
Two years.
Do it.
Yep, takes him to pre agency.
A 2 or 3 year contract is a no brainer. He must be second (behind Redman) for most improved.
