Love him, and need more of his attitude on the list
However he’s a limited role player and for us to push top 4 he really needs to be seen as depth not best 22.
In saying that there’s probably 10 in 22 that could be viewed the same way. That’s reality of the list.

What likely happened:
Essendon Media Manager to either Matt, or his management: “Hi, are we able to put your name to this quote? If not, happy to adjust it. Hope you are enjoying the off-season break! Cheers”
Matt or Manager: “Looks good. Thanks.”
Wonder if it was signed before the past week or so? These things do take time to announce waiting for signatures etc.
Lets see how many Instagram stories the teammates re-share about this news (as they have done previously with other team mates signing on)

Reward for work ethic. Happy for him to get another contract and it’s up to others to push the boy out of best 22.
He may not be a Stengle, Green or Cameron on skill, but he’s had a fantastic year and contributes on the score board and on the field. Small pressure forward is where he needs to be.
If half the team flew the flag and put their bodies on the line like this guy we’d be close the ruthless side of 2000.

Glad he signed on. Was of the thought that he was heading west.
There was a period a couple years ago when every player was “stoked”.
And then this year the club went wild on “wholesome”.
Did well this year, deserves two years.
Dare I say it, plays very ……Bluecollar……
No matter what his perceived limitations are (and personally I think those are overstated), you simply have to reward the all too rare payer in red and black willing to fly the flag and hit in hard. 2 years is well deserved.
