The silence in here is deafening.
One of his better games of the year, and surprise surprise it was a high HF/midfielder.
Got some CBA, had 10 score involvements with 2 direct goal assists. Should have had a goal as well.

He’s has very good game sense and knows when the outnumber is on for us and makes decisions accordingly. Like Hird used to.

He was good and individually is probably better suited to a wing/HFF but the current 22 struggled bringing the ball out of defence without him yesterday. Ridley and McGrath had off days, which didn’t help, but we seemed to have a whole lot more nothing kicks by our back 6 than we have been.

Watched him a fair bit tonight and he was soft. Pulled out of contests, a couple of times when he had to really body the ball and take a hit to win possession he stepped out the way. His defensive actions are poor, and his skills, which is you are something of a cat need to be absolutely pristine, have gone to ■■■■. That one in the 3rd when all he had to do was put the ball advantage side of Gresham and he has a mark inside 50, he sits the ball up to the only spot the Geelong defender could intercept. His composure has completely gone with ball in hand.

We’ve ruined him. Turned him into a generic underwhelming rebounder, reminding me of Bonner.
Difference is Martin could be an elite forward, which happens to be the part of the ground we need talent. But you know 30 possessions, with half a dozen unforced clangers a week is fine.
He had 10x i50s and only 2 Score involvements with 6x clangers
We’ve done with him what we’ve done with a dozen other elite prospects, waste their talent trying to force a round block into a square hole.
His season is the perfect encapsulation of ours, looks good on paper but beyond a superficial view it’s kind of underwhelming and overrated

Perkins needs a spell, Archie Roberts deserves a look at HB, so there’s an obvious dial to move.
He’ll improve our forward play … he’s a natural HFF or wing. He showed us that in his first game he ever played for us ffs.

Wet weather football for someone with the build of Martin is not ideal. He is an outside receiver player that roams around contests and runs all day not the type to go hard into contests, not every player has the same skillsets and it would of been a terrible game to gauge the quality of Martin. Watch him at Marvel, thats a better indicator… and this is coming from me, I am known as negative around here lol
