#37 - Nic Martin - all of the injury extension

Why are we blaming the club, maybe it was Martin pushing himself too much? He wanted to recover quickly like ashcroft did

It’s also that sometimes things just happen. I did my ACL and went back to playing cricket not that much later and much earlier than I should have and everything was fine. One of my mates slipped on some stairs 4 months after his op and redid the whole thing - it’s not something that you can foresee what will happen.

So we’re just gonna pretend Dustin Fletcher played for Collingwood?

You’re having a ■■■■■■■ whinge is what you’re doing.

I can see that nino’s back because of all the threads that get bloated with replies to his inane posts.

Well they are more expert than those who comment who have never done a knee.

‘SHATTERING’ MOMENT MARTIN WENT DOWN

Roberts said he and teammates had witnessed the moment Bombers star Nic Martin slipped and damaged his reconstructed knee in a season-ending training setback a fortnight ago.

“It’s been a tough few weeks for ‘Mart’, we saw the incident happen, and it’s pretty shattering,” Roberts said.

“Seeing an injury like that, particularly to a guy like Marto who went through it all four or five months ago, but we’ve wrapped around him, we’ve made sure he’s OK.

“I think he’s having some time off now … he’ll be back in and ready to go.

“He came in and was my locker buddy, sort of took me under his wing and gave me some brutal feedback at times when I needed it, some honest feedback, but also some words of encouragement when I did things (well).”

They are working off knowledge from a sample size of 1. Better than 0, but still sweet fa. Not an expert in any sense of the word.

This could be a blessing in disguise. We can either remain ■■■■ or alternatively improve significantly over the next 12 months. Martin returning could be similar to Hird returning in 2000 after 2-3 years of foot issues. He may end up being the icing on top rather than the player we expect to get us there.

Do you think BBlitz is the font of all wisdom ?

It is generally just regular people sharing there experience and knowledge, and us punters can accept it or not. I have never done an ACL or any part of a knee, but reading posts here adds to the knowledge base.

I’m not sure what you’re taking issue with?
Happy for people to post their life experiences. But also don’t believe people should pretend to be experts on something they know little of.

It’s a good way to hide a player and make sure no one wants him until you are ready to compete

So Marto apparently slipped over and the re-rupture could be attributed to an innocuous incident (“I did my ACL on a really dry track. My boot just stuck in the ground and obviously my body just kept going”)

He was however noted taking a few causal snaps around the body with the footy and considered to be ‘ahead’ of schedule (knee strength tests etc)

Both occurring during or around the weakest stage of the acl healing time line if the graph below has any integrity.

Nick Bryan after 8 months now approaching the ‘strength of original acl’ zone, Hayes a further month behind.

I also believe that the 1st surgery may not have been as successful as first thought either & the slip at training certainly didnt help

Ahhh speaking of this, remember alistar lord? He was studying at uni some either psychology or something speciific that requires alot of intelligece. Any after his first year at essendon, dodoro rang him when the season finished and without forcing him to leave, tried telling him to stick with that and let us pay him out so then he would basically get paid the following year to do his uni course. Alistar said no and the rest was history
