Finally given a go in the centre square, i always wondered why he wasn’t tried in there, it’s taken his game to another level.

I think its because its taken him some time to develop his contested game. When he first arrived he preferred to avoid contact, now he seems to crack in pretty hard. Another testament to his work ethic.

Yeah he could be our own Sidebottom in the centre imo, he just does everything well and is so consistent and a scoring threat.
It’s interesting our midfield of Martin, Durham, Caldwell and Merrett should be really dangerous, they all compliment each other well too.
Pre season pick, mid season pick, a traded in player for 2 second rounders and a late draft pick. It just shows your best players can come from all places.

I know pick 26 isn’t a high draft pick, but I wouldn’t exactly call it a late draft pick either. Early second rounder these days.

Hi move to the middle should be permanent. He can roam and cut up his opponent. Few can get the footy and be as damaging as he is. Teams are going to have to shut him down soon, else he will be in AA contention by seasons end.

The best footy show on tv first crack just did a thing on Nick Martin. Montagna, who’s opinion i really rate, thinks he should be a permanent centre square mid as he is a great weapon for Essendon to have in there. Rated top 2 mids in the league since he went in there a couple of weeks ago.
This makes me hopeful brad will stick with it. He compared him to the likes of Ed Richards who’s game elevated to a new level when moved from the outside to inside.

Martin’s move to the middle looks a success. It does make it near impossible for the likes of Hobbs and Tsatas to get a look in for a midfield rotation. I think we’ll test the market with both players, and possibly Parish too.
