#39 - “Big” Vigo Visentini

Briggs is only rated as well as Goldy our 37 year old journeyman. And he is monstering Vigo unfortunately

It’s a setback for the “play him every week” crew.

And the ‘we don’t need Draper anyway’ crew

Briggs plays a very physical game , and Vigo isn’t built for that. Yet. Nor has he yet worked out how to maneuver around a ruck who doesn’t really want to jump.

It is what it is.

And I have to say that a couple of centre bounces not only heavily favoured Briggs but should have been recalled.

It is what is it. Just no where near ready, which is fine, he is only 19 or 20.

I dont think i can recall a ruck domination as severe as Jackson and Briggs against Vigo.

Max Gawn to Sean Darcy in Melbourne’s first win this year.

It was the biggest belting I’ve ever seen a ruckman cop.

Durham terrible there

He’s just not ready. Yet.

Rest of this and maybe next year in the VFL.

He got flogged but I’d still rather he plays AFL than vfl.

It’s about development and I reckon giving him the rest of the season will benefit him more than vfl games will

Not ready

If we are going to play him it has to be as second ruck

I did not see this coming.

Tell me how tonight was beneficial to his development? He was nowhere near it and got as a big a smashing in the ruck as you’ll see. He’s better off playing against rucks in the VFL at the moment.

Agreed. And it’s not only about his development. How does it help all our other younger players when we are getting thrashed at every stoppage or centre bounce.

He’s 19 let him play in the vfl till he’s 23-25 then bring him into the senior side

He gets a taste of what is required.

I should have put in the caveat he shouldn’t be a solo ruck but playing half game time ruck and having a crack up forward would be better.

I get the argument for vfl development and it’s not a stupid one. I’m just not convinced he’ll learn much.

He’ll likely spend all year there next year.

This is a unique opportunity to expose him to AFL footy that he wouldn’t ordinarily get.

Got smashed but it should give him an idea of where he needs to get to in the next few years. Would still give him another game before the year ends. Ideally we won’t pick a monster ruck for his next outing. Ironically next week might have been his best chance to compete in the ruck contests.

He was horrible last time and it’s no surprise he was no good this time.

Keep getting games into him and let the midfield learn to setup defensively or play to scenarios where we aren’t winning the taps. We’ve got nothing to lose

In the two games he’s played, the opposition has scored 17.8 from stoppages to our 2.7. Obviously not all against Vigo.
