Good to here cJohns analysis of the VFL match on lunchtime catchup.
Against AFL ruck - Pittonet smashed him first quarter.
won hit outs 41-27 overall
VIGO after coaching helped worked into the game and picked up disposals around the ground and finished with similar disposal tally.
Certainly better than going to Perth to debut against Darcy and Jackson the week after. I guess that’s the game you’d pick if you wanted to prove to people he’s not ready for the AFL yet, though.
I agree, but even if it is in for Goldstein to rest, it’s not a bad thing they are resisting with Vigo, he is still young and will get his turn - I’m sure behind closed doors he is told he is close.
Blakiston was a plug and play selection, so it makes sense.
Am I the only one who doesn’t find his lack of selection outrageous? Admittedly I’ve missed a few VFL games this year but this is a ways short of PlayDraperAlreadyFFS levels IMO.
Nope, I think playing VFL the whole year at his stage of development will do wonders for his confidence, while getting good challenges, such as Pittonett last week. Better this than getting most likely taken to pieces by the absolute best in the AFL
Don’t get me wrong I’d love to get him a debut this year, even if late, to give him some motivation heading into pre-season. But I hardly think it’s outrageous he wasn’t picked weeks ago.
Maybe they’re wary of picking too many debutants simultaneously, but this would have been the ideal week to select Vigo. Stanley is a relatively innocuous opponent to come up against, and he would have both Wright and Blakiston as a chop-out.
Goldy needs a rest soon. He can’t keep up now. It will be interesting to see what the selectors choose to do then. Surely Vigo can’t be far off his debut?
