#4 Kyle Langforward

Sometimes what appears as waste can develop other areas of players game. Depends.

It’s good to know that we’ve already got Kyle’s successor playing HB at the moment, in 5 years Nic will be ready to take over that roaming third tall spot

In 5 years I’d be thinking Langford would still be about with Jake retired and 2MP getting close … I see a forward line more like Harry, Hunter and Caddy as our key forwards with Langers still cutting it as he winds down.

Nic Martin is too valuable with his tank as a playmaker off HB, wing or in the middle.

Would like to see Perkins moving closer to goal after good years at HF, around stoppages and CBAs. He’s strong and a good set shot. No problem for Archie

Hooker & Daniher maybe?

Thank you Wimm. I, too, can now rest easy.

Nah
Hooker finished like 19th that year with 41, maybe if he played forward all season. I thought he was closer too

Walker/Jenkins/Betts had an outstanding year one time for three from a club.

I came across some odd names, not winners but high up, along the journey.
Mostly Geelong ones.

Kent Kingsley / Ronnie Burns?

Pretty sure Donohue was one. I knew of him, but never thought he was any good (as a little tacker).

Gavin Exell, fifth in 1989.
Who?

Incidentally, Geelong had second, fifth, nineth, twelfth, and equal 13th (with Salmon) that year.
Seems a little excessive.

Gotta love stats.

Yeah they had that period in 89 where ablett brownless and exell were filling their boots every week.

Was the year the entire center corridor at the mcg surface turned into a mud heap.

Remember them destroying us at the G

There was a famous Princess Park game in 89 I recall where Gavin Exell kicked 9(?), probably on Langford.

Cats were kicking them from everywhere and had a 10 goal lead, only to lose the game.
I must find some highlights.

Edit…far out, full replay on YT.

Final score 171-163. Imagine if that happened today. Coaches would have a coronary at the lack of defence

Well done on finding the game James.
Watching it now.
The Cats are 17.6.108 at half time

Exell has 6.

Apologies for de railing the thread but c’mon, ya can’t get better than this.
Pity the quality is poor.

Amazing outlier.
Imagine going home…kinda, kinda reasonably, because you’re 49 points down at half time, and miss your team kicking 112 points in the last half to win by eight.

Incredible.

On a red rattler, hearing your team coming back on one of these…

Okay…enough nostalgia.
