I actually think the modern game is now going away from the “big bodied mid”
Most of them are lumbering and slow and get burnt more and more now.
The hybrid mids like Durham who are decently large but still nimble and fast are the way the game is moving imo.
Haha, fair point. They were all late developers, went from long shots to early draft picks in their draft year. I guess the point I’m trying to make is at that age there can be a lot of development in a short amount of time.
Which is basically what I said. With regards to someone having upside, I’d put more stock in whether someone was a late developer, than if their birthday was in December.
It really frustrates me that the AFL (and clubs) continues to use the archaic metric system. It would be so much easier if they just measured everything on the danger scale…
Height - stand them next to him and take a photo
Weight - same photo
Strength - old eye test estimating how they would go with a ground ball v Danger
Premierships - 2x would be double danger
My favourite… on the danger wanker scale, a complete ■■■■ would be a half danger.
VFLplayer report indicates we have some good players coming through.
Zak, clearly a playmaker with great ball use BHI.
But then theres Angus Clarke, ADW, and Vigo.
VIGO against 2 rucks 45 hitouts wtf. When you see Goldy on a zimmer frame, it might be time for Vigo to take over as our big fella.
