#40 - Zak Johnson

Zac Johnson captain of Div 1 shield side.

Johnson was far and away the best player afield on Wednesday, and proved the catalyst for Parade’s hot start. The classy midfielder booted two goals in the first and final terms, and carved up the opposition in attacking phases as he spread forward relentlessly. His pace was a feature as he played a stylish brand of football, proving difficult to lay a hand on as he broke away from stoppages and racked up possessions around the ground. Johnson was a creative force with his footy IQ and sharp ball use.

Watching his highlights - the overhead marking and the way he tilts his head whilst spreading from congestion- I actually see a bit of Brendon Goddard in him -just the way he moves.

Cannot believe this boy went at pick 70. Looks a great build, classy and can deliver.
Hats off to Mat Rossa !

How did he slip this far, kid looks fantastic. Very young too. Can still grow a bit from here.

Apparently someone I knew knows the family. Reckons “a great kid from a great family”.

Only concern is a family of Hawthorn supporters…

Certainly, on one draft’s evidence, it seems Rosa is a lot better than Dodoro. Time will tell, I guess.

How is he going in the pre season intraclubs

Still on modified training atm recovering from shoulder surgery.

Looks like he’s been starting to integrate into some skills-based drills over the past week or so, not sure what his timeline is for full match sim training though.

“ Few players are capable of using the ball better than Northern Knights co-captain Zak Johnson. The 185cm utility possesses wicked foot skills which are complimented by his vision and sound decision making. With such high footy IQ, Johnson hits his targets more often than not and is able to set up the play - whether out of the centre or running off half-back.

While a shoulder injury cut his season short and prevented him from testing at the state draft combine,

Didn’t Caddy really rate him? Wicked foot skills and high footy IQ.
Hopefully a draft steal.

Co-captain means he has the much dreaded Blitz malaise of leadership qualities. Oh well too bad. Spoken in jest. He sounds like a real decent pick up.

I get there 5mins into the 1st quater. Johnson, Unwin, and Vigo were the three big ticks for me.

Johnson found it at will, rode all contact like a grown man (he has extremely solid legs and frame), and showed some laser like kicking at times.
