#41 Saad El-Hawli - thru 2025

Perkins is a good HFFer we just need to play him there

To his cell mate in Casuarina?

He’s two years away from AFL selection under the Scott regime

He’s multiple injury reoccurrences away from playing under the Essendon Fitness regime.

I reckon he eats a lot of eggs.

I won’t believe he selected until I see the egg whites of his eyes when he runs out onto the ground

I don’t think he gravitated to defensive midfielder like he was sent for quite a few weeks.

Bring this guy straight in as an impact player in our forward 50.

Debut him against the Suns and come in from the clouds

High impact sub. High risk, high reward. Yeah, nah. He hasn’t got any match conditioning, he needs a couple of matches in the VFL first, at the very least.

We only have a couple of games left and we need someone who can find the sticks. He did that before being injured.

If he comes in has half a dozen touches and snags a couple its a win for our forward line.

If hes fit, hes fit.

He reminds me of many at our cricket club many years ago. We had about 4 players at any time, who could successfully play 1s at the level, and about 7 who were 2s players trying to play 1s. Every time a new player came to the club, he only needed to play a couple of decent shots in the nets and look like he could play, and we picked him in the 1s, until, inevitably, he proved to be not up to it.
Let’s hope El- Hawli is as good as his first couple of VFL games indicated he might be.
But, we are very susceptible to jumping the gun on any new players.
Hunter probably in the same boat.

Hope he gets to play this weekend. I reckon a game or two in the VFL. If he tears it up then hopefully he’s got an economy seat return to Brisbane…

He’ll come back via VFL, but I’d be ok with him returning via AFL.

I’m pretty confident he’ll look good at VFL level retuning from injury. He has looked good at the level all season for Northern Bullants, and however many games he played for Essendon. I think he’s worth throwing straight into the AFL mix and seeing how he goes.

Realistically after syndesmosis, he will have lost some of his zip; and will only get it fully back after a preseason.

Possibly.

I’m a bit in the camp that finals are just not at all on the table so let’s use these last three weeks to try things, though.

I’d also like to see Hayes get a run at AFL level. I’m not too fussed if he gets beaten, but I think he’s earned a go at it.

exactly amongst others, hunter got another year after being injured 2 odd games after last years pick up.
as long as he seemingly puts in the work behind the scenes, on recent history he’ll at least get another contract, which you’d assume he has been as a MSD pick generally are ones who have the self drive to get better and do all the extra stuff.

He’ll be coming back through the VFL.
Spare your emotional credits and wants elsewhere.

We have the most conservative coaching group and playing a rookie after being out for just under 2 months of footy would be a huge change of character.

Was reliably informed this morning that yes, Saad is playing this weekend (I’m not sure which level) and yes, he will be at EFC next year.

That is good news, and it isn’t even my birthday!

Little birdie told me that he will be playing AFL this week.

That was after I bumped my head so don’t know how much to read into it.
