#41 Saad El-Hawli - thru 2026

I would think Saad has Menzies covered by a country mile.

If Menzie doesn’t do some special work tonight, Saad should replace him. Or he can replace someone else….

Saad is magic and looks like he can play multiple spots including forward pocket, forward & back flank and wing.

The last bloke that we grabbed in the mid season draft that showed a bit went the the Hawks and is now rated as the no 1 winger in the league. I wanted to keep Massimo, but this kid can also play. Dare I say it given his size and skill set he is a very shaping as a very useful asset.

Not sure we should talk about players as being assets, but that’s what he is.

He was amazing.

Hope someone has a word to him about that nonsense McKay/Daniher style, around the corner kick from 15 out, barely any angle. Drop punt ffs.

This guy is a legitimate footballer. Hopefully the ankle isn’t too bad - I can see him debuting soon.

His obvious attributes are his speed and ball winning. What may have gone underrated is his toughness and ability overhead. Genuinely sticky hands and has that aerial courage to go for the high ball regardless of the position he’s in. Could be a very handy utility and another mid season / SSP success story.

Should add - he was scintillating today. Best on by a significant margin. The reason we won.

He’d add a touch of x-factor that the side badly needs.

He was excellent today. He’s got it, you can tell he’ll be a player

Must come straight in, play him anywhere, play him everywhere

What happened to his ankle ? By all accounts he should debut against the Eagles or Geelong. Already better than some of our top rate recruits. He sounds very exciting

What day this week do we find out he’s done his syndesmosis?

Or is it going to be next week now cos of the bye?

Eversion injury, landed awkwardly. Ended up taking the kick from his mark kicked it 45m (Kicking foot was his good foot) but needed trainers to help him limp off the park.

He has played one good game and some think he is a Messiah.

He has played two very good games in the twos.

Whilst he isn’t the messiah he has skills we need and shockingly lack.

Give Saad a try as a small forward. Menzie seems to be more of a small defender. I think Saad could play AFL immediately. His ankle needs to heal first. I hope its not syndesmosis.

two.

He has pace, hits targets, kicks straight

all things we lack right now

I’d offer him an extension already.

If i didnt know anything about this club and you told me saad was pick 5 two years ago and tsatas was the mid season pick up id believe you

How we manage to find guys via the MSD/SPP who instantly look better than the guys we draft in the first few rounds is genuinely weird

I don’t know. Perhaps one being four years older than the other could make a difference?

Question is, where do they play him??
